 VERDICT / Kashoo is a good option for small businesses primarily needing accounting software for bookkeeping and invoicing. It lacks pre-invoice documents, purchase ordering and inventory tracking.

Kashoo is online accounting software for small businesses. It offers a single service plan that you can pay for either monthly or annually. Like most of the programs we reviewed, Kashoo is easy to set up. It welcomes you to the program with four introductory videos that walk you through basic tasks. However, after spending a few minutes exploring the program, it kicks you out of the system, requiring you to click the verification link in the email it sends you before you can log back in.

The dashboard is different than most accounting programs. Instead of displaying graphs and charts that give you an overview of your business's financial health, it has quick entry fields for income and expenses. The menu bar is a little crowded, listing tasks at the top, reports in the middle and setup options at the bottom. It integrates with FreshBooks for tracking and invoicing billable hours and with Paychex for payroll, and these options are included on the menu bar.

Kashoo doesn't include any pre-invoice documents such as sales orders, quotes or estimates, which may be problematic for some businesses that rely on these documents as part of their workflow. You can set up recurring invoices, which is a useful feature if your business offers subscriptions or if you have customers with recurring orders.

Seven invoice templates are available, and you can add your logo. There are no color or font options, and no options to toggle fields on and off, though you can add footer text. You can track expenses and add them to invoices if you need to pass them on to your customer. Kashoo doesn't have automatic payment reminders.

This small business accounting software has limited accounts payable and inventory features. You can manage vendors, enter information about products into your system, track bill and print checks, but you can't use it to create purchase orders, and it doesn't track inventory. It also doesn't track fixed assets but suggests a workaround using the expenses feature, though you have to figure out the depreciation schedule on your own.

You can run several different reports using this bookkeeping software, including a general ledger and an aged receivables report. You can connect the software to your bank account, which is helpful for reconciling your accounts. The company offers mobile apps for both iOS and Android devices. The iOS is more functional, allowing you to create invoices, snap pictures of receipts and view reports. The Android app is much less functional and can only record payments and expenses.

The company has an active user community, offers weekly webinars and Kashoo U training articles that teach basic accounting principles and how to use the software. You can reach customer support by phone, email and live chat.
