Pros / Pinnacle Cart’s eCommerce platform is one of the easiest to use compared to others on our lineup.
Cons / This company does not have a CDN, which could slow your website speed down for your customers.
Verdict / Pinnacle Cart is easy to use, but its lack of several important features we looked for in eCommerce platforms puts it at the bottom of our lineup.
Pinnacle Cart’s eCommerce software is easy to use when you need to build your website, and its checkout process for customers is intuitive. However, this service offers fewer of the hosting and website tools we looked for in our review when compared to other companies, and it has relatively little to offer in terms of back office and security according to what we used to evaluate eCommerce services.
We evaluated Pinnacle Cart’s Entrepreneur platform. This plan offers 10GB of storage and 20GB of bandwidth, with no product limit dictating how many items you can sell on your website. This company charges no setup or transaction fees, though you should remember that you will most likely have to pay a transaction fee to the payment gateway you choose to use.
Pinnacle Cart was one of the easiest platforms to use as far as building a custom eCommerce website is concerned. You can order a customized template from this company or, alternatively, more than 30 free templates are available for you to choose as your website design. These templates are mostly customizable. You can edit several things on the site preview, or you can use an HTML or CSS editor to get your website exactly where you want it. Changing text and images is also fairly simplistic, and adding products to your website is intuitive.
This company supplies you with a unique domain and has integration available with WordPress. However, there is not a blog built in to your website. Pinnacle Cart also does not have a CDN (Content Delivery Network), which could potentially slow down the speed of your website for some or your users. Something else to be aware of is that this eCommerce platform pushes your website live as you build it, so you can’t perfect your website before your customers can find it on the web.
Guest checkout and PayPal options are available, and the eCommerce platform’s checkout process is compatible with mobile devices, which can help your customers have an easy time checking out on your site. You can also translate your website into languages other than English if you need to. This platform is compatible with over 30 different payment gateways. If you want to keep your current payment processor, make sure it is compatible with Pinnacle Cart before you sign up for this service.
Fraud detection is not part of the Entrepreneur plan, but if this is a service you require, you can customize your plan and add this feature for an extra cost. If you want a dedicated SSL certificate, you must pay extra for this as well, though it is standard to have a shared certificate across all Pinnacle Cart sites.
Pinnacle Cart’s Entrepreneur plan does not come with any custom email accounts, and it does not have a built-in POS system, which could be a drawback if you have a brick-and-mortar store you want to integrate with your online store.
When you sign up with eCommerce website builder, you receive an email with your login information. However, no support contact or link is provided in this email. This company does offer 24/7 support via the phone, which is free when you sign up for the eCommerce plan. An online knowledgebase is also available, though live chat is not.
- Hosting Ease of Use
- Cart & Checkout Ease of Use
- Customer Support
Pinnacle Cart offers an easy-to-use hosting and shopping cart platform with no product limit. However, it doesn’t offer many of the features we looked for in eCommerce software. What it does offer, however, is worth investigating for an online store.
