PROS / The hosting plan provides 500GB of storage and unlimited pages.
CONS / It may not produce a mobile friendly site.
VERDICT / If hosting, not design, is your top priority, then Yahoo's service can be a good fit for your personal or business site.
Aabaco, formerly known as Yahoo Small Business, is the website creation software that accompanies Yahoo hosting. It offers a range of templates and nearly all the tools we looked for, but not every template creates a mobile-responsive website.
It comes with over 380 templates to help you create a website that best promotes your business. If you create a website with a specific theme and decide it doesn't work for you, you can change the theme without losing the content.
A big disadvantage of this website creation program is that it doesn't always create a mobile friendly website. Responsive themes automatically adjust your website to fit the screen size of the device a visitor is viewing your site on. This is a vital consideration, as studies have shown 60% to 90% of consumers use their cell phones for shopping, researching products or seeking out local businesses.
Aabaco does not offer its own blogging system but integrates with WordPress for that function. This could be an issue if you do not like the WordPress system. It is, however, one of the most popular blogging systems and is very easy to use.
If you're looking to sell products on your site, this website-building software application integrates with PayPal buy and donate buttons, making it easy to sell products. Yahoo provides advertising credits that help people find you in Yahoo and Bing searches. However, it does not provide a shopping cart with the plan we reviewed.
Yahoo Aabaco comes with excellent hosting. You receive a free domain and can create unlimited pages and up to 500 email addresses attached to that domain. You also get 500GB worth of storage. That amount is one of the highest on our lineup, competing well even against those services claiming to offer "unlimited" storage.
You have access to tutorials and online forums for help and tips on how to make a website. In addition, you can contact customer support via live chat, phone and email.
Aabaco SiteBuilder from Yahoo lacks responsive themes and a proprietary shopping cart, but it offers many advantages in hosting and marketing that can help you with your business. If you are comfortable with a simple building interface and don't depend on mobile views, this is a service to consider.
