QuickBooks GoPayment is the mobile credit card processing arm of Intuit, the parent company that develops QuickBooks. You don't need to have QuickBooks to process through QuickBooks GoPayment, but it integrates seamlessly with the software so that all of your transactions are automatically entered, which is beneficial if you want a constantly updated picture of your business's finances. You can also monitor your QuickBooks GoPayment sales using its Apple Watch app.

Like most of the mobile processors we reviewed, QuickBooks GoPayment aggregates its merchants under its master merchant account. This is beneficial because it enables the company to approve applications quickly and reduces the number of fees that you have to pay.

QuickBooks GoPayment offers a free magstripe swiper to all of its merchants and offers an EMV-compliant mobile credit card for $30.

QuickBooks GoPayment has two different plans: a monthly plan and a pay-as-you-go plan. The monthly plan has lower rates but includes a monthly fee. We reviewed the pay-as-you-go plan as it better fits the needs to small businesses looking to only accept mobile credit card payments.

The pay-as-you-go plan has a flat rate of 2.40 percent along with a $0.25 fee for each transaction. The keyed-in rate is 3.40 percent. These rates are slightly lower than many of the other processors we reviewed.

One drawback of QuickBooks GoPayment is that you're charged a PCI-compliance fee that varies depending on the number of transactions you make. If you make 100 or more transactions, the PCI-compliance fee is $100.

QuickBooks GoPayment rates well on our transparency and consistency score because it posts information about pricing, fees and terms on its website. The reps confirmed the information when we spoke to customer support.

Applying to process with QuickBooks GoPayment is easy, and you can complete the application online, though you may be required to provide an EIN to apply. QuickBooks GoPayment can set up your account the same day you apply; though, if you want a quicker setup, it's best to apply over the phone. QuickBooks GoPayment takes longer than average to deposit money into your account, taking between two and three days.

QuickBooks GoPayment rated well on our customer service score. The reps we spoke with were quick to get back to us if they didn't know the answer to our questions. QuickBooks GoPayment doesn't have 24/7 phone support or provide its customers with a dedicated account rep.


QuickBooks GoPayment has two pricing options for mobile processing. The best option for small businesses is a pay-as-you-go option that doesn't charge you a monthly fee. However, this processor requires its merchants to pay a PCI-compliance fee that can be quite high, depending on the number of transactions you process each year.
