PROS / This company is NAID certified and operates worldwide.

VERDICT / This service is a great option for regularly scheduled and one-time shreds alike.
Shred-it paper shredding service is simple to use and competitively priced. It is also NAID certified, meaning your documents are safe from the moment they leave your office until they are shredded. You receive a certificate of destruction and a line of custody for your records, which also serves as official proof that your documents were properly destroyed, should your company ever be audited for compliance.
This service has a one-time purge option where a truck is sent to your office to shred documents, hard drives, X-rays or any other item that need to be destroyed. These items can also be picked up on a regular basis and taken to Shred-it's secure facility. When we spoke to representatives at Shred-it, we were told that smallest shred size is 5/8 of an inch, which falls in the DIN guidelines for HIPAA and other similar policies.
Shred-it is one of the few document shredding services we reviewed that offers a security risk assessment. This means a representative comes to your office and helps you determine the size of console you need and the safest place to put it, as well as create a shredding policy for your business. Shred-it has a list of console sizes with the largest standard size capable of holding 82 gallons. Additional specialty sizes are available upon request, though most companies don't need anything larger than this.
Shred-it didn’t make it in our top three services because it doesn't go beyond document shredding. Our top-ranked paper shredding services offer digital document imaging, and Shred-it doesn't. Additionally, Shred-it doesn't have storage capabilities, either for physical files or digital records, while the best document shredding services do.
The Shred-it paper shredding service has a hassle-free approach to destroying sensitive information. The company destroys confidential information, hard drives and even prototypes, making this paper shredding service an invaluable resource for protecting your confidential information. You can set up a one-time shred or a regularly scheduled shredding with a secure box in your office. Shred-it doesn't offer the additional document management services that our top-rated companies do, such as document imaging and file storage.
