PROS / This system tracks both hourly and salaried employees.
CONS / The shift scheduling feature is only available in the Enterprise package.
VERDICT / TimeAttend is an effective time-tracking solution with good management features, though it isn't as intuitive and easy to use as others we reviewed.
TimeAttend by Replicon is web-based time and attendance software that you can use to manage employees' hours and track their timesheets. As we reviewed time and attendance systems, we found this application to be particularly useful for tracking salaried employees.
The system is easy to log in to, though once you're in the program, it isn't as intuitive to use as others we reviewed. Many tasks require you to click through several screens, which can be confusing. The company charges a flat fee, per employee, per month, for use of its web-based service. It has three packages available: QuickStart, Plus and Enterprise, and pricing for the basic and mid-range services are posted on its website. The company offers in-person setup and training.
The system tracks a variety of time-off accruals, including sick leave and paid time off. Employees are given customized dashboards to clock in and out each day and submit time-off requests. Through these self-service portals, they can also assign hours to specific activities, which is useful for tracking productivity.
Besides using Replicon's TimeAttend software to track the time and attendance of your hourly employees, you can use it to track time for your salaried, contractor and flexible employee positions. While other systems require you to set up customized pay rules and change policies to accommodate salaried employees, Replicon's TimeAttend has these functions already in place. You simply check the options you need when you set up your account.
From the administrator's portal you can see which of your employees are on the clock, if someone has missed a punch or if there are any requests that need approval. You can set up mobile and email alerts to notify your supervisors and managers when timesheets or personal time off needs to be approved, or if a missed punch needs to be corrected. You can also set up notifications to remind your employees to clock in or submit their timesheets.
Shift-scheduling tools aren't available in the QuickStart and Plus plans nor is access control, which means you need to choose the Enterprise tier if you need these features.
At the end of each pay period, you can view employees' time-tracking information. In the administrative tools, you can set up a workflow for how timesheets are approved and by which supervisor or manager. As you authorize payroll, you can approve multiple timesheets at once or one at a time. When it's time to export the information for payroll, you can select which details to include in the export file, such as any overtime or records of lunch breaks.
Once timesheets have been approved, however, you're unable to alter the information on them. This time and attendance system integrates with many popular payroll and HR programs such as QuickBooks, ADP and Paychex. You can also create CSV files to export to your accounting software or payroll service.
Replicon's TimeAttend supports several different timecard formats and integrates with many different timeclocks, including badge, biometric and rugged models. Physical time clocks aren't available for purchase through Replicon, though it offers mobile timeclock apps for iOS and Android that connect to this cloud-based system.
Replicon's TimeAttend can track both hourly and salary employees and integrates with popular payroll and HR programs. It includes employee self-service portals, a mobile timeclock app, and productivity tracking tools. It isn't as intuitive to navigate as other programs we reviewed and only the Enterprise tier includes scheduling tools and access controls.
