SugarCRM Review

PROS / SugarCRM integrates with many popular business programs and offers a wide variety of third-party add-ons.

CONS / There are no built-in inventory or invoicing features.

VERDICT / SugarCRM is highly customizable contact management software with excellent features for customer service and marketing. However, it is not the easiest to use and lacks some of the features of higher-ranking programs.

SugarCRM is a popular and dependable contact management system that offers sales and marketing tools as well as integration with accounting and resource planning programs. It’s mobile-friendly and cloud-based, which lets you work on your sales and project goals outside of the office. It’s an excellent choice for startups and new businesses, because it offers integrations with a multitude of well-known, high-reputation business programs, including accounting programs and web conferencing software.

While its integrations make this good contact management software for growing businesses, the need to integrate to get some functions makes it less desirable for well-established businesses looking for an all-in-one solution. You may also find it a little more difficult to use than other contact managers on our lineup.

You can import contact information from existing files and email accounts. This contact manager has good email integration, which lets you send and receive email within SugarCRM.

The customer account portals let you record and keep track of all client interactions, including timelines. You can upload documents, such as user agreements and invoices, and attach them to client profiles so they are easily accessible later. SugarCRM offers real-time sharing, which lets you share and collaborate on leads and customers with multiple employees and departments without having to refresh the information multiple times.

SugarCRM also allows you to interact with customers on Twitter, a function most customer management programs don’t offer. It also has dialing capabilities so you can call from within the software. However, there are no built-in invoicing or inventory tools, though third-party integrations are available for these functions.

There are good sales and marketing tools in SugarCRM. This program helps with sales collaboration and order tracking, and it generates sales quotes. You can use the program to pull out trends and insights concerning your customers that can help you improve service. The in-depth reports also help you to forecast the success of targeted marketing campaigns.

This program is highly customizable, with hundreds of approved third-party apps for everything from adding surveys to configuring sales taxes. It integrates with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Sage, Cisco WebEx and other popular programs. The mobile app also integrates with other Android and iOS apps, making the mobile version just as versatile as the desktop program.

SugarCRM isn’t the easiest contact manager in our review to use, but it has tutorials, manuals and a knowledgebase section on its website, which make it easy enough. Email and phone support are also available.

Summary

SugarCRM offers solid customer contact management tools to help you get the most from your customer software. It’s among the most customizable, thanks to a large cache of third-party apps that allow you to add to its functionality. It’s relatively easy to use and a popular choice for businesses of all sizes, though it works best for small businesses.
