PROS / TrustFax’s clean interface helps you navigate the online portal quickly and with ease.
CONS / This internet fax software does not have high-volume plans or HIPAA-compliant accounts.
VERDICT / TrustFax can provide you with a low-cost account and a new fax number quickly, but its basic plan only allows 300 faxes per month. Additionally, its transmissions are not HIPAA compliant.
TrustFax provides online email to fax transmissions with monthly or yearly plans. This faxing software does not provide a wide range of plans or high-volume plans. Plans include all fundamental features for faxing from computers, including digital signatures, a fax number, email faxing, fax storage and fax logging.
You can pay for plans month to month or for an entire year upfront at a discounted rate. Most fax to email software offer a range of plans, including high-volume plans, but TrustFax caters to small businesses that send faxes infrequently and are not constrained by HIPAA compliance.
This fax software provides local and toll-free fax numbers that do not require a traditional phone line. It sends transmissions using the internet rather than phone lines. This fax software does not have hardware requirements other than internet access. Using TrustFax, you can send faxes to more than 200 international locations. International rates are competitive. For example, faxing to Mexico, Australia, Taiwan and Japan costs only 10 cents per page. TrustFax does not charge to set up or activate new accounts.
TrustFax gives you an online account you can use to access your faxes from anywhere, including a mobile device. TrustFax doesn't provide free apps, but you can still use your phone to send and receive faxes; although, it is not as user friendly as software that offers iPhone and Android apps. You can send faxes to your email inbox from the online control panel and use your email account to send a fax or receive and send faxes as PDF files. You can manage all your faxes online, but TrustFax only provides free fax storage for 30 days. After 30 days, you are charged 1 cent per month per fax for storage.
In terms of security, email faxing is less safe than sending faxes using a traditional fax machine, phone line or other secure method. Although this software does not supply HIPAA-compliant transmissions, it does employ methods to protect your account information and participates in the Safe Harbor program, a program designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce that helps companies protect personal data. It secures all account information using SSL encryption. This fax-from-computer software also provides digital signatures so that you can fax signed documents.
TrustFax does not provide a variety of software plans or HIPAA-compliant transmissions. However, it can support small businesses that operate from multiple locations. It also provides low rates for when you need to fax to locations outside of the U.S. Upfront costs are low, and TrustFax provides fax numbers, making it an attractive option if you need an affordable fax number immediately.
