 VERDICT / Square Appointments is a good choice in scheduling software. It offers a full set of administrative tools, and your clients will find it very easy to use. While it is missing some features that would better enhance the client experience, overall, it is a strong application.

Square Appointments is an online appointment scheduler that allows your clients to set their own appointments, but staff can also access it to schedule meetings. This solution is more expensive than other scheduling programs on our lineup. It also limits the number of users per subscription to only five, but it has a group calendar so you can see everyone's schedule. The system also allows clients to cancel an appointment through the online scheduler rather than having to call in.

Square is an easy scheduling software application for your customers to use. It earned 95 percent in our client ease-of-use tests. The appointment calendar is interactive with available times clearly displayed in button form underneath it. There are a few initial steps your clients will need to complete before the calendar is displayed. First, clients have to choose which staff member they want to meet with and the type of appointment. Though there are a few steps to click through, each is self-explanatory and easy to navigate through.

With Square, your customers can cancel their appointments from their desktops or mobile devices. They can also schedule recurring visits and receive a quote about how much an appointment might cost. A few important features are missing, however. If your clients live in a different time zone, this application doesn't automatically adjust the time zone. In addition, customers can't request to be added to a wait list. On the administrative side, you can't add intake forms to the online appointment-scheduling process. Intake forms can save you and your patients' time by having them fill out paperwork ahead of time.

We had no trouble embedding the application into our website. Square passed this test, earning a 90 percent score. The administrative interface is relatively easy to use, earning an 80 percent. It provides clear instructions for setting up appointment types and selecting available time slots. You can use this system for in-office appointments, too, for clients who are not tech savvy. However, we had to access the help menu multiple times before setup was complete, which downgraded its score slightly.

Square limits the number of users to give per subscription. Other applications allow 20 users or unlimited users, but Square Appointment limits you to five users. Besides appointment setting and tracking, this scheduling software provides decent client reports so you can see at a glance appointment trends, for example.

Square employee scheduler integrates with many calendaring tools, though it's missing some of the most popular options, like Outlook. You can, however, integrate it with Google Calendar and your social media accounts.


Square Appointment is a good choice for online scheduling software. Clients have to click through more steps compared to similar scheduling programs, but each step is intuitive. On the administrative side, you can embed the scheduler into your website and provide your clients instant quotes when they book online.
