PROS / Forecasting and scheduling tools that help you create efficient schedules are included in this software.
CONS / Professional setup assistance and training cost extra.
VERDICT / The time tracking tools offered by Insperity's TimeStar, including time-off accrual tracking and custom notifications, compete with the top products on our list. However, the company charges a fee for setup assistance and training, making upfront costs more expensive.
Insperity's TimeStar is a time tracking and management software application that can be a great fit for companies with a mobile workforce. Your employees can clock in and out using any web browser and internet-enabled device, including smartphones via the timesheet app. If you prefer a hardware-based system, the software integrates with physical time clocks as well, including those with biometric and badge scanners.
This system earned a score of 85 percent in overall usability. Since Insperity's TimeStar is cloud-based, the company hosts the software and data as well as any updates or software maintenance, so you don't have to worry about IT issues.
This time tracking and management software includes employee self-service features. Employees log in to their individual dashboards to view their time information, such as time-off accruals, clock in and out records, and schedules. Employees can request time off through the system, and they can view a calendar that records all approved time-off requests. Insperity's TimeStar offers employee time tracking for both salaried and hourly employees, a feature we didn't find in every service we evaluated.
You can set customized notifications for scheduling or time tracking events. For example, the system lets you set up email alerts for late clock ins, overtime shifts or no shows. Access controls let you manage who on your staff can view and edit certain information. You can also manage employee performance and productivity using this system. One of this software's top tools is its forecasting feature, which helps you plan your employee schedules and shifts more efficiently.
Insperity charges a setup and training fee. This upfront fee isn't common among comparable software options we evaluated, and may be a deterrent for your company as the price is fairly steep, costing more than $1,500 for a company with up to 50 employees. If you have questions or problems after setup and training, you can contact help and support 24/7 via phone and email. There's no live chat option or FAQs page.
The system integrates with physical time clocks, including badge terminals and biometric scanners. It doesn't support rugged time clocks, so employees who work offsite will have to access either the online portal or download the mobile app to clock in and out.
Insperity's TimeStar offers capable time tracking and management features. Employees have access to self-service options that allow them to clock in and out, request time off and view their schedules. The software tracks time-off accruals, has a notification feature and includes scheduling tools. Training and setup cost extra.
