Pros / The Dell touchscreen has an ergonomic design that enables it to recline from 60 degrees down to zero degrees so that your arm won't fatigue during use. It also has a 1080p screen and very wide viewing angles, both vertically and horizontally.

Cons / Although this touchscreen can rest at a variety of angles, you can't mount it to a wall.

Verdict / This dual-touch optical monitor enables you to perform a variety of functions on the screen without causing your arm to remain in an uncomfortable position. Additionally, the picture quality is great.

The Dell ST2220T is a 21.5-inch LCD monitor that has a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. It rests on an A-frame stand that moves between 60 and zero degrees so that you're arms can rest comfortably while you adjust items, type and more on the screen. Additionally, this monitor's viewing angles are extra wide so that you can see a great picture no matter how you position the screen. It even has built-in speakers. For these reasons and more, the Dell ST2220T touchscreen PC monitor is one of our top choices.

Touchscreen Performance

This Dell touchscreen monitor is a high-definition screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, which means that you should be able to see true black and brilliant white. The 0.248 mm pixel pitch is standard for this size of screen and its display resolution. Pixel pitch is the distance between the pixels and helps to provide a crisp image.

The response time for this LCD touchscreen is 14 milliseconds. Compared to most of the other screens we reviewed, this is almost three times slower. However, you won't notice any delay with most applications. If you are a high-end gamer, though, the response time may be more of a factor, but then again, you may want to look at monitors that are specially designed for high-end gaming in that case.

The viewing angle for this monitor is a wide 178 degrees, both vertically and horizontally. These angles on a touchscreen monitor are even more important than they are for a standard monitor because to comfortably use the monitor, you'll need to have it at a reclined angle. The wider the viewing angle, the better you'll be able to see the screen from any angle.

The Dell ST2220T has an optical touchscreen monitor. This technology uses optical sensors in two corners of the screen that identify when your finger, hand or stylus touches the screen because it distorts the electrostatic field. The dual sensors help ensure accuracy and increase the touchscreen monitor's sensitivity. This touchscreen PC monitor has a black bezel that houses the optical cameras. The screen is slightly inlayed because of the frame, which may make touching the edges of the screen near the bezel slightly more difficult.

This LCD touchscreen uses multi-touch technology. With multi-touch capabilities, you can zoom in and out of images, rotate pictures and more. This is standard for all touchscreen devices. While the Dell ST2220T allows you to touch two places on the screen simultaneously, some screens that we reviewed have many more concurrent touch points.

This stand style is ideal for touchscreen monitors because you can rest your hands on the desk instead of holding them out in front of you while you work on the computer. The A-frame stand adjusts from 65 degrees down to zero degrees. Additionally, it's easy to quickly adjust the angle of the touchscreen. The option to lay the monitor flat on a table is also nice because it allows you to play games on the monitor with two or more people as you would a board game. The one option the Dell touchscreen lacks is the ability to mount it on a wall.

The Dell ST2220T has two built-in speakers on the bottom of the screen. Most of the touchscreen monitors we reviewed have built-in speakers. The speakers in this Dell monitor may not be as powerful as standalone speakers would be, but they should be more than adequate for most situations.

Given its 21.5-inch screen size, the Dell touchscreen is slightly lighter, on average, than the other screens we reviewed. It weighs 13.9 pounds. The dimensions of the monitor are 15 inches high, 20.8 inches wide and 2.3 inches thick. The monitor size is a little big compared to its screen size, but that's because the built-in speakers reside below the screen.

This Dell touchscreen has three USB ports in addition to the USB port that connects the monitor to your PC. These three additional ports give you the freedom and convenience to connect peripheral devices without having to use the ports on your computer tower. In addition to these ports, the Dell touchscreen has HDMI, VGA, DVI and audio-input ports.

The Dell ST2220T LCD touchscreen monitor has an ergonomic design that will allow you to comfortably work on it at a variety of angles. Although you can't mount it on a wall, it's less likely that you'd want to do this in a home or office setting anyway. The built-in speakers at the bottom of the screen make the monitor a little large, but it's still a manageable size. With the standard pixel pitch, contrast ratio and resolution, this touchscreen monitor will provide you with a vibrant HD picture. The optical touchscreen technology will provide you with the flexibility and convenience you've become accustomed to from working on tablets and smartphones.
