GreatCall Splash: Excellent GPS Tracker for Seniors

The GreatCall Splash is a waterproof urgent-response device optimized for senior citizens. It runs on the Verizon wireless network and uses a combination of cellular and GPS technology.

The Splash's main feature is its help button. When pressed, this button connects you to help agents. The agents are certified by the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch and are highly trained and professional.

You can tell the agents your problem and they will send you a variety of assistance, including paramedics, roadside assistance and locksmiths. They can also communicate with your family for you.

The device is quite small, about the size of a typical garage door opener. It weighs slightly less than 2 ounces and can be fastened to a lanyard, attached to a bracelet or clipped to a belt.

The Splash works using two technologies. First, the GPS technology communicates with satellites to determine your location; second, the cellular technology connects with the GreatCall agents, who are able to see your location and talk to you over the unit's speakerphone.

One of the best features of the Splash is an optional plan called the GreatCall GoPlan. This plan enables you to talk to a nurse or doctor over the Splash. They can then give you advice and suggestions about any symptoms you might be experiencing.

The Splash is named for its waterproofing. It's rated to IPx7, which means it withstands immersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. This means you can shower with the tracker, without having to worry about falling and being unable to get back up.

This GPS tracking device has a battery life of four days. It comes with a charging cradle that is easier to use than a USB charging cord. The device has a batter indicator light, as well as a voice that clarifies when the device is turned off or on.

Unlike some GPS tracker companies, GreatCall does not lock you into a contract, so you can cancel your service penalty-free. When we tested the Splash, an agent picked up within seconds and was courteous and professional.

Although this device is not a conventional GPS tracker, because there is no user interface, it is an excellent way to make sure you or your loved ones can always receive emergency assistance. This can be a lifesaving product if you're concerned about the safety of your loved one or yourself.
