Pros / The leather wheel is very comfortable and ensures you won't quickly tire of using it.

Cons / The value pack doesn't come with a stick shift.

Verdict / The Porsche 911 GT2 is an excellent gaming steering wheel. Few other available options do racing games more justice.

Fanatec offers a wide variety of premium gaming steering wheels and related peripherals. The Porsche 911 GT2 is one of the best gaming steering wheels you can get. It has a strong list of features, top-notch design, huge customizability and good technical support options. Thanks to the Porsche 911 GT2's versatility and high quality, it earns our Top Ten Reviews Silver Award.

You can add more peripherals to the pack at an additional cost, and it's always good to have options. But, of course, additions like pedals and a stick shift cost more.

The best racing wheels mimic the steering wheels in real cars as closely as possible. Fanatec's Porsche 911 wheel does an excellent job of that. With 900 degrees of rotation, the wheel feels much like what you'd expect to find in a high-end sports car. There are few better ways to immerse yourself in your racing games than a good gaming steering wheel, and the Porsche 911 wheel is among the best.

You can also get a set of solid pedals – one gas pedal, one brake pedal and one clutch pedal. Few things contribute to how a racing game feels like the clutch pedal does, and we recommend picking these up with the wheel. If you don't want to pay extra for the stick shift, the shifting paddles on the steering wheel serve well enough.

This wheel is compatible with PCs, PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360. There isn't any support for the Xbox One.

While the Porsche 911 wheel is not the largest gaming steering wheel on our lineup, an 11-inch diameter is still a good size. What's more, the wheel is overlaid with leather, which greatly enhances its visual appeal and comfort. You're not likely to get tired of holding onto this wheel while you're careening around corners.

Speaking of corners, you don't need to worry too much about the steering wheel floating around while you're turning. The device weighs in at about 13 pounds and comes with a clamp to hold it in place. While 13 pounds isn't particularly heavy, it's enough to keep the wheel in place in most conditions. The steering wheel isn't the only part that should stay in place. The pedals have a floor grip that prevents them from moving when you're shifting and braking.

We were very impressed with the Porsche 911's customization options. The only thing we found missing was headset support. This racing wheel setup has everything else we look for in the best PC steering wheels. The pedals are pressure sensitive, which means that the harder you press, the faster you go – just like in a real car. The steering sensitivity can be adjusted to whatever you're comfortable with.

There are plenty more customization options, including adjustment dials that let you fine-tune various settings on the fly. For example, if you want to change the feedback strength, then all you have to do is tune it with the adjustment dial. This helps keep you in the game. You can also modify the ABS vibration. You can alter almost any form of force feedback to suit your needs. You can also save those settings in different profiles. You may want a certain feel in arcade racing games, but simulation racing games are very different.

Help & Support

Fanatec's help and support options are admirable. You get a one-year warranty on the hardware, which should be plenty of time to notice any factory defects. The online community is fairly active and can help you with any questions you don't want to send directly to the support team. Speaking of the support team, you can contact it through email or by phone. But first, you should check out the FAQs to see if your questions can be answered there. The user guide for the Porsche 911 GT2 is comprehensive and full of useful information.

The Porsche 911 GT2 is just about the best thing you can get without building a simulation cockpit or stepping into a real racing car. There are a couple of minor flaws, but this gaming steering wheel is an excellent option that helps immerse you in your racing games. The long list of features and top-notch design are compelling reasons to pick one of these up.
