If you're someone who likes to have the latest tech in support when behind the wheel, the TomTom GO 620 is street's ahead of the best car navigation system competition. The GO 620's functionality can only be described as premium, meaning it will provide all the driving assistance that you could ever need.

However, the vast array of features on offer makes the TomTom GO 620 so much more than a device to simply get you from A to B. Text messages, hands-free calling and Siri and Google Now are all just a quiet word to your GPS away, all while your smartphone stays safely in your pocket or bag.

Built-in Wi-Fi means all the latest software is always ready to download without a computer, as are maps from around the world at no extra cost for the life of your TomTom GO.

With lifetime traffic alerts, the TomTom GO 620 intelligently plots routes around traffic hot spots and accidents, while you'll also get advance warning of fixed, mobile and average speed cameras, whose locations will be updated over the life of your device as well. Advanced lane guidance means you should never miss a turn again, and once the GO 620 has had time to appreciate your driving habits, it will use what it has learnt to enhance the accuracy of the times it predicts you'll arrive at your destinations.

TomTom GO 620 Review: Features

The navigational assistance is undoubtedly top-end, and so are the other in-car features that the TomTom GO 620 has to offer. TomTom GO 620 Review: Design

In terms of design, the TomTom GO 620 is slim, sleek and has a 6-inch capacitive touchscreen. The screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels is what you'd expect of most car GPS devices, as is the ability to power it through the DC charger in your car.

If you need to unplug, the GO 620's internal rechargeable battery can last up to one hour per charge; it's nowhere near the three hours that the TomTom VIA 1515M can provide, but there's a lot more going on inside the GO 620 to drain the power.

Installing the TomTom GO 620 is straightforward as well, with the active magnetic mount allowing for quick positioning on your car’s dashboard or windshield.

Should you buy the TomTom GO 620?

The TomTom GO 620 has all the navigational and in-car features you would expect of a top-of-the-range car navigation system. Lifetime maps, speed cameras and traffic alerts are complemented by an artificial intelligence that enables the GO 620 to learn how you drive and to react to your voice commands. And while you're behind the wheel, you've got hands-free calling, smartphone messaging, and Siri and Google Now compatibility all on hand as well. The TomTom GO 620 might be a little more expensive than most of its car GPS competitors, but what it offers in return is a step above too.
