Aluratek Review

Author by

PROS / The glare-free glass makes it easy to see photos from wherever you are in the room.

CONS / The lack of a pre-drilled hole will make it tough to display on a wall.

VERDICT / This is the best of the non-internet-connected frames, especially when considering display quality, but for not much more money you can get a Wi-Fi frame.

The Aluratek ADMPF108F offers an easy way to highlight your photo collection somewhere larger and more prominent than your phone. This photo frame does not connect to the internet, so you will have to work a little harder to exhibit your social media faves, but photos collected on SD cards and jump drives will look great on this frame.

This unit scored the highest by far for photo quality in our wireless photo frame reviews among those not connected to Wi-Fi. It tied for first in photo quality even when expanding the comparison to include digital photo frames with Wi-Fi. Testers did notice that colors were a little more dim overall on the Aluratek than on other frames, but the overall result was good – photos on this frame looked very much like the originals, with true-to-life colors and no pixilation. The screen is truly non-reflective so you can see your photos from different angles, wherever you are in the room.

This is a digital photo frame with music so you can enjoy songs with your slideshow or watch your favorite videos of the grandkids somewhere besides your phone. If you are a business owner this might be a good way to showcase different product capabilities.

The Aluratek is not very competitive in terms of internal storage. It has just 512 megabytes, which is better than the total lack of storage on some units but a comparatively small amount in general.

This frame has the user-friendliness that goes along with most frames that do not connect to the internet. You just plug in your storage device and watch the photos play. You can set a timer or rely on a built-in motion sensor to stop it from playing photos for an empty room. There is no pre-drilled hole on the back, so this is not the frame to get if you want to hang it on the wall.

The Aluratek ADMPF108F finds itself in the same disadvantaged position as other unconnected frames in our wireless digital picture frame comparison – it's fine but for not much more you could get an internet-connected frame. This frame tied for the best picture quality, though, so if you prefer the ease of a low-tech solution this could be a good fit.
