VERDICT / Despite the shorter battery life, you'll appreciate the full HD video and convenient built-in Wi-Fi on this HD video camera.

The Everio GZ-EX515B belongs to JVC's GZ-EX 500 series of camcorders. This HD video camera records in full high definition, and includes a very useful built-in Wi-Fi feature. While the battery life is shorter than that of other camcorders we reviewed, this device records quality video and has some useful extra features.

Not all high definition is created equally. Video resolution can range from 720p, the low end of high def, to 1080p, which is considered full HD. The JVC Everio GZ-EX515B records video in full HD, maximizing your video quality for playback. This JVC camcorder sports a very decent 38x optical zoom, and it's one of the highest among the cameras we reviewed. The 200x digital zoom and the optical zoom combine to give you a 65x extended zoom, so you should be able to shoot video up to 65 times magnification without the video quality suffering much.

A nice addition to this camcorder is the integrated 16GB memory. Integrated memory allows you to record video directly to the video camera without the need for a memory card. Although, adding a memory card to extend the capacity is not a bad idea.

This HD camcorder has a great built-in Wi-Fi feature as well. First and foremost, the integrated Wi-Fi is useful for to uploading videos to Facebook or YouTube without the need to connect the camera to your computer with cables. However, a secondary way you might use the Wi-Fi is to set up a home monitoring. You can download an iPhone or Android app that permits you to control your camcorder remotely or stream the camcorder's video content live, straight to your smartphone.

One limitation of this camcorder is the low recording time. The battery will only last through approximately 45 minutes of recording time. Of course, the actual battery life you experience will depend on the settings you're using, but the bottom line is that many of the best HD camcorders give you more time to record without having to charge or switch to a new battery.

The JVC customer service is easy to contact. You can get a live operator over the phone or email the support team for an answer to any question you have. If you'd like to do some research yourself, you can check out the FAQs section or download a PDF of the user manual. It would be nice if JVC had a live chat option, but it is not a deal breaker. JVC's customer support team is friendly and helpful in finding answers for questions you may have.

The JVC Everio line houses some of the best HD camcorders, and the GZ-EX515B personifies the series. This HD video camera records amazing full HD video and has integrated memory as extra insurance if you fill up your memory card. The battery life is subpar and it would be nice to have a live chat option for customer service; however, even with those limitations the JVC Everio GZ-EX515B is one of our top ten HD video cameras.
