The Yada Digital Wireless Backup Camera, and the Yada name overall, is a brand that few others can match up to if you're searching for the best backup camera for your vehicle. The company has been developing electronics and accessories for vehicles of type and size for almost two decades. And with this top rated backup camera, it more than surpasses its aim to connect drivers with simple yet high-quality and cost-effective automotive tech.

Yada Digital Wireless Backup Camera review: Set up

Installing the Yada digital wireless backup camera does involve a little bit of work, but if you follow the highly detailed step by step instructions, you should be up and running relatively quickly.

The camera attaches to your rear license plate, with the camera wire then requiring connection to a reverse light bulb. If you're not experienced with this kind of thing, it can prove daunting, but there's extra guidance available via video tutorials on the Yada website, a toll-free helpline you can call, or, of course, you could spend a few bucks and get a professional to help. All of the connectors, Scotchloks, zip ties, and rings you need are included.

The monitor simply attaches to your windshield or dashboard using a suction cup mount, and plugs into your cigarette lighter outlet. The camera turns on when you put your car into reverse, and and will pair wirelessly with the monitor at the same time.

Yada Digital Wireless Backup Camera review: Camera

Yada has designed this backup camera specifically to help reduce blind spots when you're in reverse. It has a wide field of view, covering a 110-degree area, so you can see directly behind you and also some of the periphery. Below the camera, a light sensor automatically switches the camera to night vision when conditions are too dark to see. Night vision uses your car’s tail lights and infrared LEDs to illuminate the area behind your vehicle, while the camera is weatherproof to an IP67 rating, so it's built to withstand most of whatever mother nature throws at it.

Yada Digital Wireless Backup Camera review: Monitor

While this particular model comes with a 4.3-inch LCD monitor, other backup cameras within the Yada range offer smaller screens at 2.4 and 3.5-inches, or there's a model with a slightly larger screen at 5-inches. The monitor comes with a 12V/24V power adaptor suitable for plugging into a cigarette lighter outlet and powers up when you start your car. The camera and monitor will also pair wirelessly at this point using a 2.4GHz digital wireless signal that reaches up to 30 feet without interference from other signals such as Bluetooth.

The monitor has a line of five buttons at the top of the monitor for menu options, turning on parking guidelines, switching displays and powering down the monitor. You can adjust the display brightness, color and contrast to fit your preferences, and the monitor picture is clear, and the movement that it relates is natural. Importantly, there's no lag in the pictures that it relays from the back of your vehicle either.

Should you buy the Yada Digital Wireless Backup Camera?

If you're looking for a great backup camera at an affordable price, there's little that can beat Yada's digital wireless backup camera. Everything is provided for an easy installation and setting up is straightforward, with the wireless pairing of camera and monitor of particular benefit. Automatic activation makes it as convenient as any backup camera can be, while the absence of lag between camera and monitor means you can back up with confidence every time you step inside your car.
