The Wahl LifeProof 7061-100 is one of the best electric razors you can buy right now, as it provides an excellent user experience at an affordable price. Despite its low price tag, this foil shaver rivals some much higher-priced razors.

It arguably doesn't look as classy as some of the higher-end shearers on the market right now, but make no mistake, the Wahl LifeProof provides a quality grooming experience. Not only that, but an impressive battery life makes it an ideal choice for people who spend a lot of their time on the move.

Wahl LifeProof 7061-100: Design

It's probably fair to say that this shaver's aesthetic won't be for everyone. With its plasticky yellow and black build, it wouldn't look out of place in the power tools section of a DIY store (personally, we really like it).

The Wahl LifeProof 7061-100 is unquestionably pleasant to use, though, its ribbed edges and relatively light weight making it easy to grip and move around your face. With precious few buttons to get your head around, it's simply a case of hitting the on switch and off you go.

Wahl LifeProof 7061-100: Features

The Wahl LifeProof 7061-100 is a waterproof, shock-resistant electric razor with dual foil shaving heads. Its foils flex with the contours of your face and neckline for a close and comfortable shave, and its shaving heads have a bi-directional cutting bar to intercept and trim longer hairs, making it quite efficient.

The shaver's rechargeable lithium ion battery is very impressive, providing 90 minutes of shaving time between charges. This is the equivalent of 30 three-minute shaves. The Wahl also has a quick-charge feature. If you need a quick touch-up while the battery is low, charging it for one minute will give you just enough juice for one shave. A full battery recharge takes 90 minutes.

Be aware that this razor has no corded-use option, so you can’t plug it in and use it on a low battery. If you’d like a shaver you can use while it’s plugged in, the Panasonic Arc4 and the Braun Series 3 3050cc are both great choices.

The Wahl LifeProof is designed for both dry shaving and wet shaving. It can be safely used in the shower, and it’s fully washable and easy to clean. In fact, this electric razor can be submerged in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes with no risk of shock or malfunction.

While many electric razors come with a pop-up trimmer, this one stands out because it is full size and has precision-ground, stainless steel blades. This makes the Wahl a versatile, long-lasting tool for trimming sideburns and facial hair.

The shaver comes with a foil guard, charging adapter, cleaning brush, blade oil and styling guide. However, it doesn’t have a cleaning station or a charging dock. Its battery is charged with a simple power adaptor, and its blades are washable under running water once you remove loose hairs with its cleaning brush. For optimum performance, Wahl recommends replacing this razor’s blades every five to six months, and blade oil is provided for maintenance in between. This razor does have a travel pouch and worldwide voltage adaptation, but it lacks a travel lock feature to prevent it from turning on accidentally.

The Wahl LifeProof has excellent consumer protection, with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty (many offer just two years). If you need help with this electric razor, consumer support is available by phone and email. We experienced responsive customer service when we reached out with questions.

Should you buy the Wahl LifeProof 7061-100?

If you're happy to veer away from the standard black or silver shavers – and you can do without all the bells and whistles – then the Wahl LifeProof 7061-100 should definitely be on your shortlist. It delivers a very high standard of shave, is durable and easy to handle, and boasts the kind of battery life that many other electric razors can only dream of. It's a thumbs-up from us.
