Pros / It's very lightweight.

Cons / The straightener is not cool to the touch when it's plugged in.

Verdict / The Conair Infiniti Pro rapid heating capacity and light weight are appealing, but the temperature dial settings are unclear, and the straightener's hand grips get hot when it's on.

The Conair Infiniti Pro hair straightener is a decent flat iron for all hair types, with its wide temperature range and floating rounded-edge plates. It heats up quickly so you can start styling quickly, and its light weight construction isn't burdensome while styling your hair.

This straightener has a versatile plate made of titanium-infused ceramic, which lets you enjoy the benefits of both materials, which aren't often combined in hair straighteners. The slim 1-inch plates are ideal for thin, fine or wavy hair. If you have thick, coarse or curly hair, you may have to run the straightener through your hair an additional time or two in order to get the same effect. We awarded the Conair Infiniti Pro an overall effectiveness grade of C+.

The temperature dial is easy to access, but it does not mark the settings in degrees. Instead, it assigns an ambiguous numeral to each setting, i.e., from 1 to 30. It is unclear how the numeral corresponds to the device's heat range of 210 to 455 degrees Fahrenheit.

This flat iron has the fastest heat-up time of any of the model we tested, taking only 15 seconds to heat up to the setting marked 20, which we measured to be about 355 degrees Fahrenheit. It stayed hot between uses without any noticeable temperature dips, and the majority of our test volunteers said their hair was straightened after three passes.

One problem we experienced with the Conair Infiniti Pro is the body gets hot once the straightener has been on for a minute or two. It was a bit uncomfortable to hold for more than a few passes.

This flat iron was the lightest on our lineup, weighing in at 8.2 ounces. The floating plates take better care of your hair as you straighten it by optimizing the pressure in between the plates, and the curved edges give you the option to curl or flip your hair.

The temperature dial and power button are both located externally, and both have a simple design. Large textured areas make the straightener easy to grip and hold. The swivel cord keeps the cord out of your way while using the flat iron. If you forget to turn the straightener off, the Infiniti Pro's automatic shut-off feature will do it for you. It also comes with a small sample of argan oil hair treatment.

In case anything ever happens to the straightener, Conair offers a limited five-year warranty. The company website offers a whole section devoted to hair care and styling tips, and another for customer service. Summary

In our testing, the Conair Infiniti Pro was easy to use overall, and the speedy heat-up, versatile temperature range and light weight were all impressive. However, the vague temperature dial settings and the fact that the body gets hot and uncomfortable to hold were significant issues. Otherwise, the Conair is a decent, mid-range hair straightener.
