Firewall:  

CA’s firewall is ICSA certified. It will protect your important files, your personal information and your registry, in addition to monitoring your ports. If your identity is compromised, CA will cover up to $5,000 (please see their web site for further information).

Antivirus:  

CA also offers monetary reimbursement if your computer is damaged by a virus; they will pay up to $1,500 (please see their web site for further information).

CA submitted their software to be tested by major testing companies and is ICSA Certified, VB 100% Certified and W.C.L. Levels 1 & 2 Certified. This software has everything we looked for pertaining to antivirus protection including on access, real–time and heuristic scanning, auto–clean infected files and outbreak notice.

Antispyware:  

CA provides comprehensive antispyware protection that will detect keyloggers, trojans, browser hijackers and other spyware. The suite offers real–time protection and will notify you as soon as it detects spyware.

Though we know the firewall and antivirus functions are certified by ICSA, CA didn’t indicate that the antispyware function is certified.

Other Security/Features:  

This security suite offers parental control with website filters so you can keep your children save online. The software will scan emails to protect against spam and detects phishing schemes.

CA comes with some practical additional features like reports, automatic program updates and some computer maintenance features.

Ease of Use:  

The main user interface, known as the Security Center, is user–friendly and easy to navigate. You can access and configure all aspects of your PC’s security from this single screen.

Ease of Installation/Setup:  

We didn’t have any problems installing and setting up this software.

CA Internet Security Suite will protect up to three PCs with a single subscription.

Help/Support:  

CA provides a user manual and FAQs on their website. If you have further questions, you can contact customer support by email, online chat and telephone; however, they charge for phone support.

Overall, this is a first–class product at a decent price. You can protect three computers for $69.99. CA will provide all of the protection you need unless you have a Wi–Fi network. If you have a wireless network in your home, we would recommend one of the top three security suites.
