CONS / This card does not offer a way to earn annual bonus miles.

VERDICT / The Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express is a great option if Delta is your airline of choice; it offers most of the travel benefits and features that frequent travelers use often.

If you frequently fly Delta, the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express is an air miles credit card you should consider having in your wallet. You receive several travel benefits just for using your card, in addition to earning frequent flyer miles with every purchase. These are just a few things that earned it our Top Ten Reviews Gold Award for one of the best airline miles credit cards. You also receive excellent customer service from American Express, which is available to assist you 24/7; a nice perk specifically for frequent travelers.

Travel Benefits

Like many of the credit cards currently available, this air miles credit card extends a generous sign-up offer. If you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first three months of having the card, American Express will reward you with 30,000 bonus miles, which can get you a big chunk of frequent flyer miles right off the bat.

Aside from a generous sign-up offer and being able to earn miles with every purchase you make and double miles on Delta purchases, this air miles card also offers a variety of other travel benefits. For instance, on your Delta flights, you're able to check your first bag for free, which is always a nice traveling perk. This card grants you and two traveling companions access to Delta Sky Clubs® for a discounted fee, and it also gives you priority boarding. Additionally, when you’re up in the air, the benefits don’t stop; you can get in-flight discounts when you use your card.

There are no blackout dates when you book a trip with your Delta SkyMiles, and you're able to use your frequent flyer miles to book both domestic and international flights. The lack of restrictions of when and where you can fly with your earned miles is something not all credit cards offer. Although this air miles card offers many excellent travel benefits, it doesn't offer annual airline bonus miles, a companion ticket, concierge service or an annual airline allowance.

Additionally, you may also qualify for lost luggage reimbursement if your luggage is lost while traveling.

This American Express card also offers extended product warranty coverage, purchase protection and return protection. Although these features are found on many credit cards, they can be extremely useful.
