I would say it depends on the device you are trying to play it on. If you have a cheap dvd player, you might not be able to play them, for that matter a cheap one might not even have a usb to plug the flash drive into.
Ipod should play 'em just fine.
I would say look on the specs of the portable DVD player and see what it supports, or if it even has a place to plug in your flash drive.
