PROS / The prints from this device are high quality.

CONS / You get a limited number of picture sizes.

VERDICT / This small printer can be a versatile and fun device to get small attractive prints anywhere you travel.

This interesting little photo printer works best if you have a Kodak digital camera. However, the Kodak Easyshare Printer Dock Plus Thermal Photo also functions as a standalone photo printer. With its useful features, recognized printing quality and good value, Kodak’s Easyshare Printer Dock is worth a look.

With a Kodak camera, the Easyshare Printer Dock Plus Thermal Photo works as a charging cradle, a PC dock and photo printer. You say you do not have a Kodak camera? Well, that is not a problem. The Easyshare will accept images from a PictBridge camera, memory cards (though this requires an optional accessory, not built into the printer) or from a computer.

Designed for easy portability, the Kodak Easyshare Printer Dock Plus Thermal Photo weighs in at less than 2.5 pounds and it is 7.4 inches high, 13.1 inches wide and 3.3 inches deep. Such a compact device can easily be held in one hand, and you can pop it into a purse, backpack, tote bag or even a jacket pocket for those outings when you want to snap some beautiful photos and see the prints immediately.

The maximum color resolution is a reasonably good 300 dpi (dots per inch) and you get the same resolution with black and white photos. The printer speed is a relatively slow 1 ppm (page per minute), but that is understandable given this photo printer's small size and overall simplicity.

One nice touch is that there is an auto-enhance button that you can employ to improve and brighten your photos. Given how basic this printer is, the quality of the pictures is quite good. There is also a lamination feature that helps guard them against water damage and stains.

Additionally, with this printer you do not need a computer to do anything and can produce attractive prints on the spot. You do have the option of transferring pictures to a computer if you choose.

The Kodak Easy Share Printer Dock Plus Thermal Photo holds 25 sheets of photo paper. Unfortunately, the largest paper size you can use is 4 x 6 inches. However, you have the option of getting one 4 x 6 inch print, two 3 x 4 inch prints, four 2 x 3 inch prints or nine 1.3 x 2 inch prints on a single 4 x 6 sheet, which offers some diversity in size and a little variety for your photo albums, wallet photos and scrapbooking activities. One thing this printer lacks is a built-in memory slot, which could pose an inconvenience for some people.

Kodak offers plentiful help and support for customers. If you have questions, you can seek answers through email and phone support. There also is a user manual and a FAQs section on its website. Kodak also offers live chat, which is an enormously useful tool if you ever run into problems. This camera comes with a one-year warranty.

If you are a Kodak digital camera owner and enjoy printing the photos you take, the Kodak Easyshare Printer Dock Plus Thermal Photo is a multi-tasking addition to your photography equipment. Note: This compact photo printer is compatible with other cameras. Its small size and Kodak quality may make it a perfect companion to your camera.
