You can get up to five years of additional coverage beyond your car's manufacturer warranty as long as it’s under 160,000 miles. This warranty length and mileage restriction is pretty average for most extended car warranty companies. Endurance offers coverage across the U.S. and in Canada.
Endurance offers three different car warranty plans. This is a little meager compared to most companies, which offer up to five or six plans, but Endurance does give you a range of plans to choose from. The plans – Secure, Superior and Supreme – range from basic to comprehensive.
The Secure plan is the least expensive car warranty option, but it won’t cover nearly as much as the mid-level and high-level plans. For instance, this plan will cover the major components such as the engine, transmission, drive axle, seals and gaskets, transfer unit and the turbocharger or supercharger. However, you won’t have coverage for the air conditioner, brakes, cooling system, electrical components, front and rear suspension, fuel system or steering.
The Superior coverage will give your car a high-level of stated component coverage. It covers every part installed by the manufacturer, but not exclusionary coverage such as any damage or breakdown caused by a collision, road hazard, theft, natural disasters and more.
Finally, the Endurance Supreme plan is the most comprehensive coverage that Endurance offers and the closest thing you will get to a second manufacturer warranty. However, it is the most expensive plan. This plan gives you bumper-to-bumper coverage for your car beyond your manufacturer warranty. However, the same standard exclusions as the Superior plan apply.
Regardless of the plan you choose, Endurance is like most extended car warranty services, which require a 30-day, 1,000-mile waiting period after you purchase the policy. This waiting period ensures that you aren’t just purchasing the policy due to a current issue or pre-existing condition with your vehicle.
When you need to use the warranty, Endurance will only require that you pay the repair deductible, which is $200. Many extended car warranty companies offer a lower repair deductible, while others give you a choice between $100 and $200. Additionally, when your car is in the repair shop you can be reimbursed for a rental car for up to five days and $35 per day.
You can spread out payment of the policy over 24 months, which isn’t the longest payment schedule offered by extended car warranty services, but it’s pretty close. Some companies offer up to 36 months for payment plans while others only offer as little as 18 months.
Endurance offers the standard 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you decide you don’t need the extended warranty or don’t need it within the first month, you can be let out of the contract and reimbursed without any questions asked. Additionally, if you sell the vehicle during the warranty period, you can have it transferred to the new owner.
Like all of the companies on our ranking, this one lets you choose the repair location if you need to use the warranty to have any car repairs. Additionally, Endurance will handle the payment to the repair location for you, so you don’t have to worry about paying for it and being reimbursed by the company.
Endurance gave us the best customer service we experienced while comparing extended car warranty companies. The customer service representative we spoke to was very nice and helpful on the phone and took the time to explain the different coverage options and entire policies in detail.
Aside from 24/7 customer support, which is pretty rare among extended car warranty services, you can contact Endurance a few different ways – by phone, email and live chat. You can also view a handful of helpful frequently asked questions online that cover just about any questions you may have before purchasing a policy.
Endurance is the best extended car warranty service we evaluated. The lengthy warranties, high-mileage restriction, excellent customer service and long payment schedules helped it top our ranking. And although there are only three different policy plans, you can choose from very basic coverage that will cover the major components of your car or as comprehensive as bumper-to-bumper coverage to give you peace of mind when your manufacturer warranty is expired.
