PROS / You can choose between two different control panels.
CONS / Its hosting packages are limited, capping bandwidth, disk space, MySQL databases and number of email addresses.
VERDICT / Jumpline has decent functionality, but the cost and limited hosting capabilities are likely to deter potential users.
Editor's Note: This review has been removed from our side-by-side comparison because it no longer ranks as a top 10 product. The original review is below, but check out our current top 10 about Web Hosting services.
Jumpline has increased its hosting capabilities and lowered its price in the past few years, and as a result, it has become a solid web hosting provider. This web host has also improved the features it offers. That combined with solid support and usability make this service a good value.
Its capabilities may not be unlimited in every way, but Jumpline’s hosting package provides enough backing to manage sites without downtime. We tested the Stacked plan, which allows you to manage 10 different websites under one account; most of the services we reviewed only allow you to run one site under an account. It also allows for 10GB of disk space, 100 email accounts and 10 MySQL databases. For a basic account, these numbers are much better than average.
Like most other aspects of Jumpline, its help and support is slightly above average; the provided support options are useful but certainly nothing we haven’t seen before. We were able to reach its phone support staff at several times during the day; however, the live chat service was not 24/7 as advertised. Instead, it is only available during business hours.
Jumpline also provides resources for new users, including quick start guides and how-to tutorials. In the support center, there is documentation on how to use both of the company’s control panels.
This web host’s features are also sorely lacking. The service has a control panel, a standard and necessary feature on all web hosting services, to manage your website but disappointingly does not provide a free domain, custom error pages, eCommerce solutions or advertising credits.
When it comes to ease of use, Jumpline is right on par with the top-tier web hosting services we reviewed. Given the technical nature of web hosting, there is typically a learning curve for most users. Thankfully, the getting-started wizard helps with that. Unless you are familiar with web hosting, it can take you a few minutes to learn your way around the service. Once you do, you should have no problem navigating the interface and accessing the various features.
Jumpline is missing more than a few features on its control panel, yet it is still easy to use and allows you to create several professional looking sites. This web host provides the capabilities for decent storage and hosting features. With a few improvements to the live chat availability and addition of a few control panel tools, this would be a top-tier product.
