Active@ Undelete is a full-service disk recovery software designed to help you with your HDD recovery issues. It is fully cross-functional and able to recognize all of the most common file types. It supports Advanced Format HDDs, meaning it’s good for hard drives over 2TB. There is even support for hardware RAID configurations and automatic reassembly for software RAIDs.
As a file recovery software solution, Active@ Undelete can help you recover deleted or lost files. The available search options allow you to filter search results from lost partitions and corrupted drives including internal SSD and HDD. External searches enable you to recover lost data from connected devices such as external hard drives, SD cards and USB flash drives. However, unbootable hard drives, RAID and network support tools are only available with the enterprise version.
Of the variety of scan types, Active@ Undelete can recover most of your more common file types, including MS Office and locally stored Outlook files. It can recover most damaged files, but it doesn’t always do so well with bad sectors on a hard drive, particularly in cases of physical damage.
We tested this software on PCs running Windows 7 and found that it scans quickly and provides good results. The interface presents the features in an understandable manner, and the file previews are of top quality. The only minor annoyance we had is that the entire interface does not fit on one screen. We tested this software on a wide 1280 x 1024 monitor and still had to scroll down to have access to all the features.
If you need assistance, you can contact Active@ Data Recovery by telephone or email. The company also posts useful FAQs and a user guide online. The software includes help files, but we had no problem figuring out how to use the application and did not need to consult the help files for assistance. The company provides professional disk recovery services if you have an extremely damaged disk.
Active@ Undelete is a great tool for recovering data stored locally stored and on attached storage devices, and it tested well in our own lab. Unfortunately, you are required to purchase additional software to work with unbootable hard drives, broken RAID arrays or network-connected devices.
