TurboFloorPlan Instant Architect is a basic kitchen design software application that lets you do a decent job creating an attractive and practical kitchen remodel even if you are a beginner when it comes to designing anything online. Although this software does not have every feature presented in some of the higher priced applications in our product lineup, it still offers plenty.
You can quickly make floor plans in 2D or 3D mode and this software will automatically generate walls. To make things easy, you can always start with one of the 45 built-in sample plans and edit one of those until it looks exactly like the kitchen you want. You also can import a floor plan or a photo and work from there.
To create the interior, you can access more than 4,700 objects from the software's library or use more through access to SketchUp. You simply use the drag-and-drop capability to put countertops and shelves where you want them, see how they look and then either keep or reject what you've added. Besides roughing out the basics for doors and windows, you also can find appliances, countertops, furniture and much more to outfit your vision of a perfect kitchen.
Since kitchens are quite complex rooms compared to the relative simplicity of a bedroom, this software also gives you tools to locate electrical wiring and plumbing. A helpful cabinet designer can make designing these easy, and the software's SmartWand capabilities permit you to experiment with colors and materials.
All the tools are pretty easy to use. You can also save money and help the environment by making use of the software's helpful "Green Building" tools and information.
You can view your creation in 2D and 3D mode, which gives you both a practical guideline and a realistic look at how your kitchen will ultimately appear. One significant drawback to this otherwise multifaceted kitchen design program is that you cannot export your completed design via DXF or DWG formats.
If you are undertaking some major changes, it's nice to export a professional-level design to a contractor or architect for their review and, ultimately, for the actual construction work. However, you can still share your design in less detailed and polished forms and end up with the kitchen you want.
For customer support, you can make use of the many instructional videos that are included with the software. If you have questions, you can call the company or check the website's community forums. Unfortunately, you do not get a FAQs section nor live chat.
