Tipard DVD Cloner is a program that easily burns identical copies of your DVD movies to new discs. It also allows you to create a virtual disc by saving a DVD's ISO file to your computer. This makes it useful enough to appear close to the top in our review of the best DVD burning software, but poor-quality compression keeps it out of the top tier of our rankings.

This software is easy enough to use. When you load a disc into the interface, you have three copy options: Full Disc, Main Movie and Custom. Full Disc burns everything found on your DVD, Main Movie strips away everything but the feature presentation, and Custom allows you to select which content you want to burn onto the new disc. All these options are available on the main interface, and once the copy process has begun, it takes between 25 and 45 minutes to complete. Anyone can learn to use this software with few to no problems.

You can use this software to create virtual copies of DVDs by allowing it to save a disc's ISO file to your computer. This file is a digital blueprint for a disc and can be used in DVD player software. You can archive these files and make future copies without needing the original disc. This is a great tool to back up your DVD library digitally.

If you want an identical copy of your DVD, you must use a blank DVD-9 in Full Disc mode. If you use the smaller blank DVD-5, the software compresses the content of the disc to it. Tipard DVD Cloner produces a particularly bad-quality compression. When we watched the compressed disc, we noted badly degraded picture quality. Constant distortion, pixelated images and compression artifact render compressed copies nearly unwatchable.

Summary

Tipard DVD Cloner has all the tools necessary to be one of the best DVD burner programs. It's easy to use and makes perfect copies if you use the right blank discs. It also has great archiving capabilities. However, its poor compression keeps this program out of award-winning territory in our review.
