DVD Cloner is strikingly simple and fast, allowing you to make exact 1:1 copies of your favorite DVDs from your Mac. Its speed and user-friendly interface are among the many reasons DVD Cloner for Mac earns the Top Ten Reviews Gold Award for Mac DVD burning software.

Additionally, the application removes copy protections found on most commercial DVDs. This allows you to back up movies you own without having to install a third-party decrypter. This software also has the ability to read damaged discs and restore content onto a new DVD.

By balancing simplicity with multiple useful features, DVD Cloner for Mac offers a wealth of options for burning DVDs. As expected, you can make exact copies of everything on a disc. It also allows you to select which content from the original disc makes it onto the recordable DVD. So if you want to only copy a movie onto a DVD and leave off all the bonus features, subtitles and other non-movie content, DVD Cloner for Mac lets you do just that.

This version of DVD Cloner for Mac has a brand-new interface. After launching the application, you have three options to begin burning a DVD: You can burn a DVD movie, combine multiple DVDs to one Blu-ray or copy an archived movie from your hard drive to a new blank disc. These are all great tools, and DVD Cloner for Mac is the only product we reviewed that has all of them.

Before the copying process can begin, this Mac DVD burner must first bypass the anti-piracy encryptions found on nearly every commercially produced disc. DVD Cloner has this ability, but the About window in the interface explicitly warns that this feature is for making copies for personal use only.

Once you have DVD Cloner installed on your Mac, all you have to do is insert the disc you want to copy into the optical drive, select what you want duplicated and click Start. It literally takes less than 10 seconds to start the burning process.

In our tests, it took DVD cloner 40 minutes to make a 1:1 copy of a DVD. If you choose to compress a copy, it only takes five additional minutes. These are the fastest recorded times of any DVD burning software we evaluated.

This program also lets you save the DVD's blueprints to your Mac's hard drive. The ISO file or raw file folders let you create new copies without the original disc. You can even use DVD Cloner to perform this task, but most Macs come with this ability

There are two types of blank DVDs available, with a large difference in memory between them: DVD-5 discs have 5GB of storage space while DVD-9s have 9GB. Although DVD-5s are cheaper and easier to find, they don't have the storage capacity to fit an entire commercial movie. This is because all commercial DVDs come on DVD-9 discs, so you'll need the larger disc for 1:1 copies.

Fortunately, DVD Cloner can compress the contents of a DVD-9 onto a blank DVD-5. Compression causes slight quality degradation. While this is common of all DVD burning software, it was least noticeable in DVD Cloner than the other applications we reviewed. Our video experts had a hard time finding any pixelation, compression artifact or any other imperfections on the newly copied discs.

We've all been in the situation where one of our favorite movies is unwatchable due to scratches on the disc. One of this software's most useful features is its ability to restore damaged DVDs to their original quality. With DVD Cloner for Mac, as long as your DVD isn't broken in half, you can copy the content from the damaged disc and burn a new copy that's better than the original.

As Apple moves away from optical drives in favor of their cloud-based services, new Macs lack an optical drive, which means there's no way to burn DVDs on the machines. If you have one of the new Macs, you'll need to invest in an external optical drive to utilize DVD Cloner for Mac.

This Mac DVD Copier comes with more customization options than any other program in our review, and they’re very simple to use and understand. Here are some of those options:

Full 1:1 Disc Copy:This is the Cadillac option provided by DVD Cloner for Mac. It's a perfect copy of the entire disc with no compression or loss in quality. When you use this option, you'll need a DVD-9, because a DVD-5 doesn't have the capacity to fit all the content found on a DVD-9.

Movie Complete Copy: This option copies the full movie from a DVD-9 onto a DVD-5. Full DVDs include all the special features, menus and other content found on the original. Notably, this option does not create an exact 1:1 copy. In order to fit all the data found on a DVD-9 onto a DVD-5, DVD Cloner must compress the video. However, the quality of the copy is still excellent; it’s just not an exact copy of the original.

Movie Only Copy: This option is the younger sibling to Movie Complete Copy. Instead of the full disc, this option copies only the movie portion. Additionally, it creates a 1:1 copy. This is a great option for making simple backups for your DVD library without having to spend the extra cash on a bunch of DVD-9s.

Split One DVD-9 Movie to Two DVD-5 Discs:This option is a combination of the first two options. It retains all the menus and bonus features found on the original disc, creating an exact 1:1 copy but on two DVD-5 discs.

Movie Customized Copy: This is where the real customization options live in DVD Cloner for Mac. It allows you to select which content ends up on the newly burned disc.
