Anyone, regardless of their computer skills, can learn to use this program quickly. The opening screen has all the instructions you need to start burning your DVD movies in just seconds.
This program takes between 70 and 80 minutes to burn a new disc, depending on the content you duplicate. It may sound like a long time, but it didn't take as long as other programs we tested. However, out of our top three award-winning applications, Tipard was the slowest. Our other two award winners burned a DVD in half the time it took Tipard.
This program comes with a built-in CSS decrypter, which can bypass the anti-piracy protections found on nearly every commercial disc. This feature runs in the background and you never interact with it. But it's important, because without it, you would be limited to making copies of unprotected or homemade DVDs.
In addition to making new physical copies of DVD movies, this program also allows you to save a DVD's raw files onto your hard drive. This can come in the form of a DVD's ISO image or its Video_TS folder. These files are essentially digital blueprints for a DVD. If you have these digital blueprints on your computer, you can use Tipard DVD Cloner to burn new DVD without needing the original disc.
DVD-5s and DVD-9s are the two types of blank DVDs compatible with DVD burning software. DVD-5s have 5GBs of storage space while DVD-9s have 9GB. Since all commercially produced DVD movies are on DVD-9s, you'll need a blank DVD-9 if you want an exact copy.
If you only have blank DVD-5s, though, Tipard DVD Cloner can compress a feature-length movie so it fits. Compression often causes some degradation in the video quality on the new disc. However, with this application, the quality loss is minimal. In fact, we compressed a feature-length movie and burned it onto a disc using Tipard. Our video experts could only spot some minor compression artifact and pixelation from Tipard's copy. It's not a perfect duplication, but unless you’re watching it on a large-screen HDTV, you won't likely notice any imperfections.
There will be times when you don't want to burn an entire DVD. Tipard DVD Cloner offers simple tools that allow you to select the exact content you want on the new DVD. Once a disc has been loaded into the interface, you have three main options to burn a movie: Full Copy, Main Movie and Customize.
Just like it sounds, Full Copy burns all the content on your disc, including the movie, audio tracks, menus, etc. Main Movie strips away everything except the feature presentation. Customize provides a list of all the tracks found on the DVD and lets you pick which ones you want to copy. All these options are easy to understand and use. Even those with average computer skills can use Tipard's customization tools with no problems.
