PROS / You can learn how to use this user-friendly software quickly.
CONS / The application cannot directly post to social media.
VERDICT / Without editing tools, you can only use this software to organize your photos. You will have to use another application to edit and share your photos.
PixFiler, previously PhotoArchiver, is basic photo organizing software. While the program offers minimal editing tools and sharing capabilities, you can manage your photos easily with this user-friendly software. The program may look outdated in comparison to our top-rated photo organizing software, but the interface is labeled clearly and the tools are easily accessible.
You can organize photos by keywords, categories, dates or ratings. With a star rating system, you can assign your photos one to five stars, creating groups of your most and least favorite. After organizing your photos, you can search for them using those categories and quickly find the exact image you want.
Whether you upload photos from your hard drive, digital camera or scanner, the program works with RAW files and preserves the basic EXIF information of each photo. You can view and even edit some of the metadata of your photos. The program alerts you to duplicate photos so that you don't have multiple copies of the same image in your collection.
When it comes to editing tools, the program is lacking. You can perform basic edits, such as rotating a picture or resizing it, however that is the extent of the tools. You can resize multiple images at once, which helps eliminate redundant tasks. When you select Edit Image within the program, it requires you to open an external editor.
The sharing options are also limited. You can share your photos by email, burn CDs or create a slideshow to share. You also can use printing templates to print off your pictures. Unfortunately, the picture organizer does not allow you to directly post photos on social media sites.
While PixFiler is easy to use, it lacks support options. You can only contact technical support by email. The company website does have a FAQs page, but the application lacks a knowledgebase, tutorials and user forums, which most of the other organizing programs feature.
PixFiler helps you organize your photos quickly and easily. You can use its selection of organizing tools to manage your vast photo collection. However, it has virtually no editing tools and the sharing options are limited.
