Cryptzone Secured Email Review

Author by

PROS / Recipients can open secure emails using any device and can send secure reply emails. Administrators can use the Central Management Console to deploy software, manage groups and configure policies.

CONS / Cryptzone does not offer a cloud-based version and does not support GroupWise.

VERDICT / This email encryption solution is simple to install and requires few resources to run the management console, which makes it suitable for smaller organizations that do not have a dedicated server to run the administration tools.

Cryptzone provides compliant email transmissions utilizing FIPS-certified AES 256-bit encryption. It complies with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), HIPAA, HITECH, PCI/DSS, FTC Red Flag Rules and others. Policies are automatically enforced rather than user initiated, and audit reports are available. Secure emails can be opened using any device, and recipients can send secure reply emails. Cryptzone does not require manual key management and provides automatic data compression to speed up delivery of larger files.

Recipients can open secure emails using any device with an internet access, including Macs, iPhones, iPads, Blackberrys, Androids, Windows phones and even Linux machines. Cryptzone supports all types of email, including Gmail, Hotmail and web-based Outlook. Secure emails can be viewed in several ways: through a web browser, by installing the Secured eMail client or by downloading the free Secured eMail Reader.

The first email sent out to new recipients will require verification, but once they set up their accounts, subsequent secure emails are simple to access. To ease the burden on your help desk, emails come with full instructions and lost passwords can be recovered without IT or admin intervention. Recipients can send secure reply emails without being Cryptzone customers. Encrypted content is sent using a MIME layer as an attachment to a wrap mail, so emails can be opened using any email technology, including Gmail and Hotmail.

Administrators can use the Active Directory tools to aid in deployment and to manage groups. The Central Management Console manages policies, groups, licenses and deployment. The console does not require a dedicated server to run. It can run on a standard Windows PC with 2GBs or more of RAM or on a server running Windows Server 2003 or newer. The client side of the software runs on standard Windows-based PCs and integrates with Outlook and Lotus Notes. Key management happens automatically and does not require admins to manage keys.

Cryptzone creates secure, complaint emails that can be viewed using any type of email technology, making the recipient experience agreeable. The administration console is simple to install and manage, and requires few IT resources, making it an agreeable experience for them as well. It is suitable and affordable for smaller organizations but is capable of supporting unlimited users.
