PROS / TurboZIP software has all the same features as the best ZIP software.
CONS / This product supports only a few compression formats.
VERDICT / TurboZIP file compression software has sufficient features and extraction formats, but it supports only a few compression formats.
TurboZIP is decent file compression software that offers a host of quality features and a large number of extraction formats. It's near the bottom of our ranking because it offers only a few compression formats.
Like most file compression software, TurboZIP can create and extract ZIP files. Additional features include the ability to password protect your archives, create multi-volume archives and email archives through Outlook.
Perhaps the easiest aspect of using TurboZIP is the drag-and-drop archive function from Windows Explorer. After you create a new archive, you can drag your files to the blank screen. You can also right-click a zipped file to send it to TurboZIP to be unpacked.
You can repair damaged archives with this ZIP software and show both the individual and overall compression ratios of files. You can compress PDF files and send them via email or FTP.
One missing feature is the ability to create self-extracting archives. TurboZIP is the only file compression application we reviewed that doesn't include this function. Additionally, TurboZIP doesn't include a feature to batch compress ZIP files, but you can perform this function using Windows Explorer and hotkeys.
Although ZIP is the most popular file archive format used today, this ZIP software could use a few more options to compress files. TurboZIP only compresses files into two of the formats listed on our lineup, ZIP and LHA/LZH.
This file compression software supports 22 extraction formats. Included among these are ZIP, CAB, RAR, GZ, ISO, TAR, TGZ and 7z. It does not support IMG.
TurboZIP includes a comprehensive user guide, FAQs and email support. It does not have user forums to post questions and responses with other users, however. It also lacks phone and live chat support.
This ZIP program runs on all modern Windows platforms but not on the Mac operating system.
TurboZIP falls short in the number of compression formats it supports. It offers nearly all the standard features of ZIP programs and supports a host of extraction formats, however. Although it's not the best option, this software will zip and unzip your files.
