Verizon Gets Android, Change Your Password!...
TopTenREPORTS Your Tech News Resource
New plans for the Kindle 2 to go wireless and international what new phone line Verizon will begin to carry and if you use email services like gmail and hotmail, why you should change your passwords asap. AT and T must have some serious power or clout when it comes to making deals with manufacture's of popular gadgets. First the iPhone and now the Kindle. Lets start by going over new price changes for the Kindle 2. Amazon dropped the price by 40 dollars bringing it to 259 dollars. But the price goes up to 279 dollars if you want a built-in AT&T SIM card to wirelessly download books. So not only will users buy books in the US but also in more than 100 countries where AT&T gets coverage. The Kindle 2 with the AT&T SIM card is an international version of the ebook reader which starts selling later this month on October 19th. Lets turn the tables and talk about something that AT&T actually doesn't offer, the Android phones. Verizon on Tuesday made AT&T the only carrier that doesn't carry any android phones. Verizon and Google announced the deal with plans to introduce two Android phones before the end of the year. The two companies will also put their heads together to design headsets specifically for Verizon along with manufactures who will make the phones. Microsoft and the European Union have settled the anti-trust case involving internet explorer. The court believed bundling IE with Windows stifled other competitors in the browser market. So they've compromised by having a trial plan where Microsoft will offer a "ballot screen" that will give users a choice on which browser they want to use. The ballot screen will include Internet Explorer of course, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and others. Computers that already use Windows in Europe will get the ballot screen in a Windows update sometime in the near future. Bloggers have new rules to follow from the FTC. The guidelines require bloggers to disclose if they get cash or any kind of payment to review a product- when they endorse it. That means that if a blogger says a product is great they have to tell you if they got one for free. Industry analysts say that this will be a difficult regulation to enforce given the sheer number of bloggers out there. But bloggers who get caught will face an 11 thousand dollar fine. Ouch. Its time to change your passwords! Hackers leaked more than ten thousand usernames and passwords for all the popular free email services. The usernames and passwords were posted on the internet for anyone to see. Services that were included in this scheme are yahoo, hotmail, Gmail, msn and live. We should point out that all the companies involved blame a phishing scheme, and not a security flaw in their respective networks. All the same, you should probably change ALL your passwords, like right now.
