New PS3 model, Acer, and TMobile Fiasco...
Your Tech News Resource
Sony has announced a new version of the PS3. It looks and feels just like the 120 gigabyte PS3 system released earlier this summer but with a bigger hard drive and a bigger price tag. The new PS3 will have a 250 gigabyte hard drive. The extra space will give gamers more room to download games and movies. It is also expected that Sony will roll out new Facebook and Twitter applications for the system before year's end. You can expect to pay 350 dollars for the PS3 when it comes out on November third. A computer manufacture has bumped Dell out of its spot as the second highest maker of PCs. Acer grabbed hold to the number two spot for worldwide computer manufacturing just this week. PC Tracker released their report that Acer holds 15 percent of all PC unites shipped, compared to Dell's 12 percent. HP continues to hold the top spot by owning nearly 20 percent of the PC market. Lenovo and Toshiba run close behind Dell. But I should note that Dell still holds the number one spot for sales here in the United States. HP and Acer come in second and third on that list. The Flip Mino got a pretty nice facelift, or more accurately liposuction. The new version of the MinoHD is noticeably slimmer than its predecessors. As the name would suggest it can capture video in HD. The display screen also is slightly larger than the previous version. Another convenient feature in the new Mino is the HDMI out port. So instead of plugging into your computer, then firing up a video editing program, then burning a DVD, THEN watching on your TV, you can now just plug your Mino right into your HDTV. You still get flip's signature built in USB that flips out to conveniently plug right into your system. The memory capacity of the Mino also got upgraded from about 1 hour to almost 2 hours. The Flip MinoHD costs 230 dollars. For all you people who wait until the last minute to do your Christmas shopping, Amazon has gotten you an early present. The company announced same day shipping for select cities in the United States. Amazon even said if you need to get a last-minute birthday gift, you no longer have to run to the mall, you can just order it from them. So procrastinators in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Seattle and Washington, D.C will all get same day shipping. But we haven't gotten word on whether it costs extra to have the delivery guy dress up like Santa. T-Mobile is still reeling from their data loss fiasco last weekend. The company still hasn't sold their new Sidekicks. But there is good news for everyone who lost their data. After both Microsoft and T-Mobile said that most of the data would not be recovered, they now say that most of it will be restored. However service is still spotty, as it has been for a couple of weeks now. This hasn't exactly been a T-Mobile's finest hour, and Microsoft doesn't look so hot in this situation either. The companies have given anyone who lost their data a free month of service and a hundred dollar T-Mobile gift card. As well as issuing a letter of apology to all its customers. What a mess!
