Android 2.0, Nintendo DSI XL, Wii 2?...
Covering this week's news, a warning to all Facebook users;what gaming system Nintendo has supersized;and Android 2.0 and the Droid that uses it.
Covering this week's news, a warning to all Facebook users what gaming system Nintendo has supersized and Android 2.0 and the Droid that uses it. Facebook users should be on the lookout for phishing scams. The latest rush of email blasts have tricked Facebook users into giving out their personal information. The email looks like a legitimate email from Facebook that asks people to update their login information. During that process of giving the fake email personal information - user's also unknowingly downloaded a Trojan. Experts warn not to give any personal information in an email. The phishing scam hopes to use your login information to take over your profile and steal and financial information with the Trojan. Some big things have happened at TopTenREVIEWS this week. We've acquired Space dot com, live science dot com and newsarama dot come. As part of this TopTenREVIEWS established the TechMediaNetwork to incorporate these sites. Now according to the September 2009 ComScore TopTenREVIEWS is the 4th largest technology news site. I encourage you to take a look at these sites. Our new tech network really will help broaden our ability to educate you on a wider range of topics from astronomy to health to computer security. This week Google introduced the updated version of its Android operating system. Android 2.0 comes with a series of improvements and includes a cool updated version of Google. This looks to give a regular GPS system a run for its money. You can search by saying your destination into your phone instead of having to type it. For your afternoon commute there's a traffic view which gets you live traffic data through the net. That's pretty nice, especially when many GPS systems don't even connect to the internet. There are also other functions like using Google's street view, satellite view, and searching for places along your route. The first phone to have Android 2.0 and the sweet navigation app is the Motorola Droid which Verizon showed off this week. It will cost 199 dollars with a 2 year contract and a 100 dollar mail-in rebate. It clearly looks to compete with the iPhone. Does it do that-I'll let you be the judge but here's some specs on the phone. It's got a 5 megapixel camera. It has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It has a 3.7 inch touch screen and comes with a 16 gigabyte micro-SD card. You can get the phone next week on November 6th. Nintendo has supersized the DSi, their handheld gaming device. The new version will have larger dual screens at 4.25 inches. Nintendo plans to call it the DSi LL in Japan and the DSi XL in Europe but they didn't say what they would call it here in the US. It goes on sale November 21st in Japan. But they didn't give any plans as to a possible launch date for the US. Nintendo also has faced rumors about the Wii 2. It looks to be smaller, cheaper, and with HD quality but there really isn't any set dates or firm information on the device yet. But come on Princess Peach in HD-- that equals awesome. In other gaming news, the PS3 will get Netfilx streaming capabilities. Users will get access to the service through a free Blu-ray disc that runs a sort of app on the machine. But we've heard Sony may release a firmware update later that will make the Blu-ray disc unnecessary. Anyone who is subscribed to the 8.99 per month Netfilx Watch Instantly service will be able to stream movies through their PS3. The Blu-ray discs are free, but there are probably a limited amount of them. If I were you I'd sign-up to get one now, before their gone. That's this edition of TopTenREPORTS, your tech news resource.
