iToolSoft Blu-ray DVD Copy is a bare-bones Blu-ray burning software package that also works for burning DVDs. The application's primary strength lies in its ability to burn both DVD and Blu-ray movies, but with limited ability to rip data from existing DVDs and Blu-ray Discs, it is unlikely to be very useful without auxiliary applications to pick up the slack. It does not have any features to set it apart from the crowd, and it lacks a special focus or niche to give it a foothold.
Like many other Blu-ray burning software packages, the user interface is small. Unlike competitors, however, radio buttons and drop boxes clutter the small window. These options require better explanation than they receive; you might have to blunder around before you figure out what the buttons and drop boxes are supposed to do. Labels would make the application much easier to navigate. Without any initial guidance, it will be hard to burn a Blu-ray disc exactly the way you want to. Despite having a one-window interface with few options, the layout still manages to be confusing.
The biggest hang-up is the inability to assemble files for burning. The application only burns from disc images or from ripped Blu-ray Discs. This might not be such a big issue if there were a convenient means for assembling custom-made disc images. The application claims to support ISO images, but we could not really find the feature anywhere. We expected the software to compensate with high-quality ripping capabilities—unfortunately, we were unable to evaluate the ripping function because the application did not work in our product test. Consequently, we were also unable to measure the burning speed or burn quality.
To top it all off, the help and support is ineffective. The software includes a help button that looks very convenient. Unfortunately, it links to a dead webpage. If the tech support were a little bit more helpful, perhaps we could have worked past some of the problems we encountered, and the whole package would be more appealing. In the very likely event of a problem, you might just have to figure it out on your own.
There is one thing we can say in favor of the iToolSoft Blu-ray DVD Copy software package: The download and installation process was extremely fast and painless. We had the 12.6 MB file downloaded, installed and running in less than 30 seconds. If you can surpass all the obstacles and stability issues, this Blu-ray burning software package would be a fine choice to create duplicate data discs. Unfortunately, these small perks might not be enough to compensate for all the other problems.
iToolSoft Blu-ray DVD Copy is not the best Blu-ray burning software available on the market. If you know your way around disc images and have a Blu-ray ripping application to compliment this product, you might enjoy the Blu-ray and DVD compatibility. However, we cannot guarantee that the software will work for you.
