DVDFab excels in our review of the best CD burner software. That's because in addition to making great CDs, it is even better at copying commercial DVDs. That's not to say that it is perfect, though. We found that its file conversion capabilities are somewhat limited. DVDFab may prove to be less flexible for creating custom DVDs than you'd expect.

There are plenty of options when it comes to making copies of your favorite DVDs. The software's compression features are particularly impressive. DVDFab allows you to compress commercial discs in DVD-9 format to DVD-5 discs, which are less expensive. In total, DVDFab offers more than seven copy options. This seven-pronged approach simplifies the setting-selection process for the average user. You don't need to fiddle with all of the individual settings all of the time. Just pick the most applicable format out of the seven that are provided.

When you compress movies, expect a certain amount of quality loss, especially when there is bright lettering or precise shapes over a dark background. In such instances, you will see some color bleeding. These flaws are typically unnoticeable unless you play the movie on a big screen.

The application can also decrypt commercial movies and remove region codes. Even if you purchase a DVD outside of the country, you can come home and make a copy that will play in your DVD player.

You don't need an advanced degree to learn how to burn discs with DVDFab. The user interface is clean and labeled clearly. This CD burner has many features, so it may take a little while to figure out what everything does, but it is intuitive enough that you'll learn the ins and outs rather quickly. Many of DVDFab's features are preprogrammed, so you don't have to muck about with all of the different settings if you don't want to.

DVDFab is unrivaled when it comes to copying and compressing commercial DVDs. If you want to custom tailor your discs, you might find the feature set restrictive. DVDFab is the best CD burning software choice for intermediate users who want control over compression and copy quality without learning all the crucial details involved in disc burning software.
