The RCA 25250RE1 is the next best cordless phone on our lineup, boasting an impressive list of handset features, a decent selection of device functions and a very intuitive design. It falls short, however, in the Help & Support category, offering only telephone support and a user manual. It does offer a two-year standard warranty, however, in place of the standard one-year guarantee.
RCA was originally a radio-focused startup founded by General Electric, whose cordless phone immediately precedes the RCA 25250RE1 in our lineup. While, initially, they focused on radio and sonar related products, their reach extends to everything from traditional radios to the phone you see here. This brand is known for its quality and innovative drive, which is apparent in this exceptional phone.
The only thing keeping this cordless phone from scoring a perfect four in this category was its lean talk time. In every other sense, however, the device exceeded our expectations, packing all of the features we looked for into a compact and functional set.
The RCA 25250RE1 is one of the cordless phones with the highest potential for expansion, allowing up to 10 handsets to be connected to one base. The talk time for each handset, however, rates just above average with nine hours of time per fully-charged battery. The lower talk time should not be a great concern unless an exceptional amount of time is spent using the handsets.
The basic features of the base component are included in the RCA 25250RE1 cordless phone, including an integrated answering machine, an intercom function and a base speakerphone. The rare Bluetooth compatibility and the alarm function are not present on this device, making it just average in this category.
Setup of this cordless phone is near effortless; the phone itself can be established in a matter of seconds and the expandable handsets are easily added to the system. This model did not score a perfect four in this category largely due to reports of a similar problem that many of these devices suffer: the handsets occasionally have difficulties charging on their individual bases. These reports are limited, however, and a great deal more consumers are satisfied with the product.
Other Cordless Phones reviews
The customer service category is where the RCA 25250RE1 really suffers. While they offer the most robust warranty, granting protection of your device for a full two years, they lack a helpful FAQs section and an email address for customer inquiries. The size of the warranty was impressive, showing that this company obviously has confidence in the quality of their product, but we were concerned that the only way to contact customer service if we had questions about setting up our cordless phone was to use a phone. Email support would greatly help this product in this category.
The RCA 25250RE1 is a high-quality phone with a near-perfect handset. It’s very intuitive and easy to use, even though it may suffer from the occasional difficulty. The only major downside to this cordless phone is its baffling lack of multiple customer service avenues. However, you shouldn’t have much trouble with this device, making customer support less of an issue.
