Napoleon is one of the biggest brands in the electric fireplace space, and its Slimline wall-mount electric fireplace provides warmth and the atmosphere a real fireplace can give in just minutes.
This electric fireplace, like most, has two heat settings – low and high. On the high setting, it draws 1,500 watts of power, which is normal for an electric fireplace. With this and a standard home heater, your home will be nice and warm in no time.
The 5,000-Btu output on this unit heats up to 400 square feet quickly and efficiently. The built-in fan forces the heat from the unit into the room through the vent on top of the unit.
You can also just opt to use this electric fireplace without the heat and enjoy the flame effect. This feature lets you enjoy the ambiance of a real fireplace without having to use the heat, which is particularly nice if you live in a warm climate most of the year and want to enjoy the atmosphere a fireplace can provide anytime.
This wall-mount electric fireplace features such realistic-looking flames that your guests will think they are real. The flames are lit with LEDs, and you don't have to worry about replacing them regularly, as they work for years. The unit includes rock inserts, which give the fireplace an even more authentic look. You have a choice of six different colors for the rock inserts, too: blue, amber, black, red, clear and topaz.
This electric wall fireplace weighs 35 pounds, which is fairly standard among electric fireplaces. This unit measures 32.25 inches wide and 23.25 inches high, and it sticks out from the wall 3.75 inches. This is a good size because it allows you to place it on either a small or long wall.
As one of the best electric fireplaces, the Slimline is stacked with convenience features we like to see. Our favorite feature is its hidden touchscreen controls. If you're not using them, you don't even know they are there. They sit on the bottom right side of the unit, and unless you are touching them, they aren't lit up.
Aside from controlling the functions – heat, flames, temperature and timer – with the touchscreen, you can use the included remote control. This allows you to turn the fireplace on and off and adjust the heat and other functions from anywhere in the room.
We also liked seeing a timer function on this electric fireplace. The timer allows you to set the unit to turn off after a certain amount of time. This feature is handy if you often forget to turn off appliances or electronics after using them, or if you know you'll be leaving the house or going to bed and don't want the unit left on.
If you do have the fireplace on for an extended time, you don't have to worry about it overheating, because it has an automatic shut-off feature. This feature ensures that the unit doesn't overheat – if it gets too hot, it just shuts off for you. This ensures that it doesn't cause any heat damage to your wall or start a fire from getting too hot.
You can mount the fireplace onto your wall yourself, and it doesn't take much work. You only have to mount the bracket onto the wall with the included four screws, make sure it is secure, and then hang the unit on the bracket, which is a quick and simple process. You'll want to leave at least 36 inches of space between the fireplace and any combustible items, such as drapes, furniture, television and bedding.
More on Heating
You can even choose to recess it into the wall. If you choose this, it only sticks out 1.5 inches from the wall instead of 3.75 inches. Unlike with many fireplaces, you don't have to disable the heating feature if you decide to recess this unit into the wall – the ventilation won't be blocked. However, it is recommended that you consult a builder before you install this fireplace in your wall.
We were slightly disappointed to see no live chat option on the Napoleon website for customer service, but it's not a deal breaker for this fireplace. You can still contact the manufacturer by phone or email for help without any problem. Additionally, you can access the product manual and view a handful of FAQs on its website, which is convenient.
The Napoleon Slimline is the best wall-mounted electric fireplace out there. Not only does it add heat to your home, but its modern design adds a piece of artwork to your living space. You can enjoy two heat settings, beautiful and realistic-looking flames, and a slew of convenience features that make it easy to operate.
