In the world of hair clippers, Wahl is something of a legend, leaving other hair clippers in the dust since 1919. The genius behind the Wahl electric hair clipper legacy is Leo J. Wahl, the inventor of the first practical electric hair clipper. Wahl’s hair clippers have come a long way since 1919, clipping, trimming and shaving with powerful, steel blades powered by lithium ion.

The Baldfader is one such product, one of the best electric shavers on the market and a great example of Whal Home Products. It does the job and it does it well. Several accessories, like scissors, a cleaning brush, a comb and blade oil, are included. Most electric hair clippers come in a soft bag to contain all of the loose parts, but the Baldfader has a hard storage case to protect it.

It also comes with several clipper guides:

  • No. 1/2 – 1/16" (1.5mm)
  • No. 1 – 1/8" (3mm)
  • No. 2 – 1/4" (6mm)
  • No. 3 – 3/8" (10mm)
  • No. 4 – 1/2" (13mm)
  • Left Ear Taper
  • Right Ear Taper

If you’ve ever used a hair clipper, you know that the guides are essential to getting an even cut. Even if you want to completely shave your head, you should start with a guide first. Then progress to the left and right tapers. Depending on your hair type, the guides will prevent the hair shaver’s blades from getting caught and pulling on your hair. Once you’ve cut of the bulk of your mop, you can take off the clipper guide and use just the blade for a super-close cut.

The Baldfader has self-sharpening steel blades that are perfect for short cuts. Its design is fairly bulky, though, and it has a cord, meaning you’ll have to have it plugged in at all times to use it. This means using in wet conditions like the shower is absolutely not a good idea.

Whal includes a five-year warranty with the Baldfader, guaranteeing the product to be free of defects during that time. We love this customer-oriented attitude and commend Whal. The company also offers pretty good support via its social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter). We contacted representatives via Facebook and received a response almost instantaneously.

Whal has broken the mold with the Baldfader electric head shaver. This hair clipper comes with seven different blade guides to ensure you get just the right cut and has quality blades that shouldn’t dull. Best of all, it’s backed by a five-year warranty.
