Autopom offers some of the best extended car warranties available. Right now there are some 21 variations, with some being among the most affordable on the market, and all come with a pleasing amount of additional benefits, including rental reimbursement, roadside assistance and the like. For its highest level plans, the company does insist that vehicles be in good mechanical and electrical shape at the time that the warranty is purchased.

Autopom has operated as as broker and seller of vehicle protection plans and mechanical breakdown insurance since 2010. It doesn't administer its own plans in the same way that Endurance does, but it is backed by some financially impressive partnerships with large international companies, namely Mercury Insurance Group, Enterprise Financial Group, United Care and Royal Administration.

Autopom review: Cost

  • Quotes vary across states
  • Quotes well below average
  • Requires a down payment of 10%

Quotes will vary across states and depend on the make, model and year of the vehicle being covered.

For a high-mileage vehicle with over 150,000 miles already on the clock, for a warranty period of 48 months, the quotes Autopom's supplied came in at well below the average for the industry, with some as low as $0.01 per mile as opposed to the industry average of $0.05 per mile. That's the best we've seen, even beating out the likes of CARCHEX.

Autopom asks for a down payment of 10%, which is higher than the industry standard of 5% – deductible amounts vary by plan.

Autopom review: Products

  • Offers four coverage options
  • Further four-to-six levels of coverage within each product
  • Cars must be in good mechanical condition

Autopom offers four coverage options, with a further four-to-six levels of coverage within each product.

Powertrain Plus is the entry-level warranty, and covers all the essential major systems of the vehicle. The Mid Level plan adds a few more components, while the High Level plan covers the same ground, but is aimed at vehicles not covered by the eligibility regulations of the Exclusionary Plan.

The Exclusionary Plan covers virtually all of the mechanical and electrical systems of the vehicle, and is the most comprehensive plan that Autopom offers. It should be noted that cars must be in good mechanical and electrical condition, and have a clean title and zero modifications to qualify for this plan.

Autopom: Key features

  • Visit any licensed repair facility
  • Rental vehicle assistance, breakdown coverage, and roadside assistance
  • Affordable payment plans

Visit any licensed repair facility
Unusually for a warranty broker, Autopom doesn't insist on customers using an approved mechanic or shop. If a customer’s vehicle needs to go in for repair or diagnosis, the customer can just choose whichever facility they prefer, from dealerships to smaller independent shops.

Rental vehicle assistance, breakdown coverage, and roadside assistance
All of Autpom’s plans offer rental car assistance while vehicles are being repaired. Their policy of any facility being approved for repairs means that customers have nationwide coverage and they also offer 24/7 roadside assistance

Affordable payment plans
Autopom offers very reasonable payment plan options for customers wanting to spread out their payments, including some interest-free arrangements, depending on the warranty and supplier.

Autopom: User reviews

  • A+ rating from Better Business Bureau
  • 4.5 star rating on Trustpilot
  • Website easy to use and intuitive

Autopom has been operating in the warranty market since 2010 and has already garnered excellent ratings and customer satisfaction; the Better Business Bureau has awarded the company  an A+ rating.

Trustpilot, a well-regarded global business review website, also scores it very highly, with a 9.5/10 rating, which it equates to ‘excellent’.

Autopom's main website is easy to use and very intuitive. All the fields necessary to ask for a quote are front and center, and as we say, their quote process is exceptionally straightforward. It raises itself above its competitors both with its efficiency (quotes are received within a few minutes), and its lack of hard sell, pressurized sales calls that usually follow acquiring a quote.

Contracts vary because of the multiple suppliers, but they generally sit around the industry standard; Autopom has sample contracts on their website that you can check out if you want to do a little more research.

Should you choose Autopom Extended Car Warranty?

Autopom has a lot going for it as a warranty broker. The prices are among the lowest on the market, though there is that slightly higher ten percent down payment.

Its range of policies is good, though again, for the most comprehensive coverage, cars do need to be in good mechanical and electrical shape. It’s the quote process, and lack of hard selling, that really make the service stand out, though, as well as the ability for customers to choose their own mechanics.
