The Braun K 650 is a versatile food processor that can process foods to a range of consistencies due to its variable speed controls. This allows you ramp up the speed to adequately reduce harder foods to a fine grain or slow the shredding process of cheeses so less food sticks to the disks. Its numerous disks and cutting blades do make the cleaning experience more difficult that it is with simpler machines, but the capabilities of this device make it invaluable in everyday cooking.

The best feature of this food processor is its variable speed dial. With it, the blades can achieve between 300 and 2,000 rotations per minute. However, you must hold down the pulse button to actively chop, so it can become difficult physically if you're doing any long-term processing, such as making a puree. When set to a high level of rotations, the appliance is able to reduce foods to fine textures. It performed well at reducing almonds in our testing.

This blender food processor comes with a wide range of accessories, which increases the spectrum of chopping results you can get. In addition to a sizable 9-cup bowl, it comes with a universal chopping blade that can chop, blend, mix and puree by itself. It also has a dough hook for kneading dough of up to 2 pounds. It even has a cream attachment for whipping and three disks: one for fine slicing, one for fine shredding and one for coarse grating.

Although this is one of the best food processors for its powerful 600-watt motor and extensive range of cutting accessories, cleaning the appliance is less than easy. Soft foods like mushrooms or cheeses tend to get stuck under the blade in the rim, making it difficult to clean. The numerous accessories add to the many pieces with crevices to clean, and in our tests this machine had a cleaning time of more than 15 minutes.

The Braun K 650 is a powerful small food processor. It comes with a 9-cup bowl and multiple blades and disks that facilitate consistent results whether you’re wanting to puree, shred or simply slice food. The variable speed sets this appliance apart from many other units, though it has the unfortunate tradeoff of requiring you to hold down the pulse button to activate the machine. However, its versatility allows you to achieve an extremely wide range of results in the kitchen.
