MedicalAlert360.com offers several GPS mobile medical alert units. Its base unit is the Mobile Companion GPS medical alert system. When you sign up for the service, you purchase this unit upfront and then pay a monthly subscription fee for the service.
You purchase the MedicalAlert360.com GPS medical alert unit upfront when you sign up for the initial service. The battery life on this unit is up to 120 hours, which is the one of the highest out of the comparable units we reviewed. The longer battery life means you can be away from the charger for a day or two, and you don't have to remember to charge the device every night.
In order to charge the unit, you must first attach the unit to an AC wall charger. This might not be an ideal setup for individuals with poor eyesight or hand-eye coordination from arthritis or other health-related issues. There is a charging pad available for an additional cost if you need an easier way to charge the unit.
The unit clips onto a lanyard with an easy-release clip, which means if it gets caught on something, you can easily pull it off of the lanyard. Included with the unit is a small carrying pouch, so you can protect it from water or other elements. The pouch has a see-through front, so you can easily see the emergency button as well as the battery life, cellular signal and GPS-strength LED buttons to check coverage in your area.
When you press the alert button on the unit, this medical alert system sends a call to the company's 24/7 monitoring center. Monitoring center representatives communicate with you through the two-way communication feature in the device, much like a cellphone. The representative will assess the situation by asking if you need any help; if so, the response center can then send emergency personnel or any of your emergency contacts to the last known location transmitted by the GPS in the unit.
The MedicalAlert360.com monitoring response center can cover a variety of languages, such as English, Spanish, French and German. If you need special language considerations, you can notify the company upon signing up with the service, so it can record this preference in your profile for the response center to know when you send in an emergency alert.
The company charges a shipping and handling fee. You may be able to waive this fee. MedicalAlert360.com does not charge an activation fee, and you can cancel the service at any time as you pay for this service on a month-to-month basis.
To cancel service, you must send a signed letter of intent by email, fax or mail. You can restart service at any time using the unit you purchased.
This medical alert company offers a lifetime warranty on the GPS medical alert. You can contact the company by phone or email, though phone seems to be the preferred method. If you send an email, company representatives will generally direct you to contact them by phone.
MedicalAlert360.com offers a decent selection of GPS medical alert units backed by a fully staffed 24/7 response center service. The company does not charge an activation fee, and you pay from month to month, so you can cancel anytime. If you are looking for a simple GPS medical alert unit with a good 24/7 response center and a higher battery life than other comparable units, then you may want to seriously consider this option.
