AlarmForce Review

Editor's Note: This review has been removed from our side-by-side comparison because it no longer ranks as a top 10 product.

Our Verdict

AlarmForce is one of the most customer-oriented security companies, but its surveillance system is lacking in features.

For

  • AlarmForce manufactures, installs, monitors and services the system themselves.

Against

  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are upgrades to the standard package rather than being included.

Editor's Note: This review has been removed from our side-by-side comparison because it no longer ranks as a top 10 product. The original review is below, but check out our current top 10 about Home Surveillance Systems here.

AlarmForce is a wireless house alarm system with popular service areas in the eastern half of North America, largely servicing populated areas in Toronto, North Carolina, Florida and Ohio. The company has a very customer-oriented business model that we find refreshing when talking about wireless video surveillance systems. It is one of the only home surveillance systems that genuinely satisfies its customers.

AlarmForce has several different services that layer on top of each other. The basic plan includes AlarmVoice, a two-way communication system between you and the central security hub. You can then upgrade to AlarmPlus, a wireless surveillance system that sends a wireless signal if your telephone line is ever disrupted in any way. Unfortunately, AlarmForce is very behind in terms of interactive monitoring. It doesn't have technologies like mobile device monitoring or an online account that lets you check your home’s status when you are away.

Beyond the basics of AlarmForce’s standard surveillance package, you have to upgrade your plan to receive monitored smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. Most competitors charge to upgrade to flood sensors, temperature sensors and personal security devices, but will include smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as part of their wireless security system packages.

While other companies will outsource their product manufacturing, installation or service, this company cares for customer from start to finish. AlarmForce guarantees its surveillance system with a lifetime warranty, and its employees manufacture, install, monitor and service the system themselves. The AlarmForce website has a good FAQs section with in-depth answers to top questions as well as direct contact information to a support representative. However, it does lack a live chat feature.

AlarmForce is a wireless video surveillance system whose customer-oriented attitude reflects in its products and service. While we don’t think this surveillance system is the best on the market, it still compares nicely with more expensive services. We like the fact that the company manufactures, installs, monitors and services the system without going through third parties.
