For more than 100 years, Whirlpool has been a household name in appliances. It manufactures refrigerators, ovens, washers and dryers, and other home essentials, and its dishwashers are well-known for being some of the best on the market. Today’s Whirlpool dishwashers feature convenient tools like Sensor Cycle, Cycle Memory, the TotalCoverage Spray Arm, Target Clean and more. They’re also very dependable machines – Whirlpool boasts that it has had the fewest repairs in the business for more than 20 years. And with most its models priced under $800, they’re some of the most affordable dishwashers available.

Several of Whirlpool’s dishwashers feature a Sensor Cycle. This automatically determines the ideal wash settings for your dishes by using the machine’s two built-in sensors that can detect temperature, soil level and load size. The sensors scan your dishwasher twice during the cycle: once during the prewash and again during the main wash cycle. This allows the machine to adjust the cycle automatically so you get the best wash possible for each individual load. The best Whirlpool dishwashers also use the soil sensors during the normal wash mode.

Another great feature found in some Whirlpool dishwashers is Cycle Memory, which remembers the last settings you used and stores them so you can start a cycle by pushing a single button. This is convenient if you wash similar loads of dishes regularly.

Some Whirlpool dishwashers employ the TotalCoverage Spray Arm. This feature eliminates the need to rinse or prewash your dishes because of its increased water pressure and smart sequence jets. These maximize the dishwasher’s efficiency and cut through hard-to-clean messes like cooked-on food.

The best Whirlpool dishwashers also come equipped with the company’s trademarked Target Clean Option. This wash cycle uses more than 40 spray jets to get food and other contaminants out of hard-to-reach areas like corners and crevices. Target Clean is great for cookware like casserole dishes, pots and pans.

Whirlpool dishwashers are some of the most affordable machines in our review. Most of them are priced below $800, and you can even get some models for less than $400. However, the cheaper models don’t have all the fancy features listed above. You can consult the Whirlpool website to see which models have which feature.

Dishwashers made by Whirlpool have a reputation for being reliable, effective and inexpensive. They also have a wide array of wash cycles, cleaning options and other technology that makes certain your dishes get clean.
