ViaTalk is a solid provider that offers plans for both residential and international needs. ViaTalk provides the most common calling features we were looking for in services. However, its international calling plans are limited, and it lacks several of the advanced features found in other reviewed services, such as a mobile app for calling on the go.
This service offers plans that are good for small businesses, for example, each plan comes with an additional line at no extra charge. The world plan is an add-on for small business plans and is available for a low monthly price on top of your regular service bill. This way, you can still place cheap international phone calls.
This plan includes 1200 minutes, rather than unlimited international calling. Still, 1200 minutes is a sizable plan equaling 20 hours of international calls. However, if you think your needs will exceed this, ViaTalk is probably not the right service provider for you. Services that offer unlimited international calling like Phone Power or Broadvoice may be better for you.
Setup with the ViaTalk adapter is an easy, hassle-free process. When we tested this service, the call quality was about average. We were able to hear the speaker on the other end, but they reported a tunnel effect, where it sounded like our voice was coming from far away. There was also a fair amount of static and the majority of the conversation was slightly fuzzy, rather than being clear.
You can manage your account and view your call history on the online platform. The online platform provided by this service is easy to use and very user intuitive. We had no difficulty finding our way around or viewing important account information. You can access your online account from anywhere through the online portal, so you can always stay on top of your accounts.
ViaTalk offers most of the features we were looking for in international calling plans, such as conference calling and call transfer. It is missing its own softphone but does provide links where you can set up a third-party software and connect ViaTalk to this service. This is useful, but most of the top international call services we reviewed provided a softphone built into their platform and pre-configured. This service is also missing a mobile app.
ViaTalk offers quality services with a plethora of features that make it a good a small business. While it lacks an unlimited world plan, it still provides up to 1200 minutes of international calling.
