Panda Antivirus for Mac is good at virus detection, including ransomware, with barely noticeable effect on your system performance. Even offline it continues to work by caching malware signatures locally and watching for strange system behaviors. It isn’t as good at identifying Windows malware hidden on your Mac machine, though it does detect 99 percent of Mac viruses, making it a good solution for Mac internet security.

This Mac security program includes a personal firewall that can protect your network from attacks and intrusions, including hackers and spyware. It scans USB drives and incoming email messages. If you connect your cell phone or tablet to your Mac via the USB port, Panda Antivirus scans that device for any possible threats. Panda has a gamer mode that, when enabled, keeps the software from interrupting you while you are watching videos or playing games.

Because this is a basic antivirus program rather than a full security suite, Panda doesn’t have the extended protections that other Mac internet security suites have. For example, it doesn’t have a password manager to shield your sensitive information while you are online. It also doesn’t have parental controls to further block dangerous content from being accessed by your children. Consider F-Secure SAFE if these are features you need.

If you need help with any part of the Panda program, you can call or email tech support between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern time. 24/7 telephone support, weekend support and live chat support are available, but Panda requires you to purchase the premium support package to have access to this level of help.

Panda Antivirus for Mac is good at Mac malware detection. It is easy to operate and doesn’t use a large portion of your computer’s hard drive, so there isn’t a lot of slowdown. While it doesn’t include many features compared to other security solutions, those included, such as the USB scans and personal firewall, are helpful in keeping your system safe.
