If you are seeking first-rate quality in your photos and want them to stay beautiful for a long time, look no further than the Canon Selphy CP800.

This small photo printer is easily transported, lets you see your pictures on a handy tilt-up 2.5-inch LCD screen before you print anything, and includes automatic corrections – such as red-eye adjustment – so handling any photo editing work is a snap.

The Canon Selphy CP 800, with an outer casing that comes in black or white, weighs in at a mere 2 pounds. Standing 2.3 inches high with a width of 4.7 inches and a depth of 6.7 inches, this petite but powerful device is small enough to tuck into a backpack, briefcase or tote bag, so you can take it anywhere with ease. Bring along an optional battery and you are in business.

However, do not let the small size fool you. This photo printer is not the fastest one around, but it can produce a 4 x 6 color print in just 47 seconds. Canon also pledges that its prints are water resistant and can last 100 years.

The color resolution is a respectable 300 x 300 dpi (dots per inches), and you get the same resolution for black and white prints.

You can print from a PC if that is your preference. You also can use a memory card, USB flash drive or digital camera. With a Bluetooth adapter, you also can produce prints wirelessly from a Bluetooth- enabled device.

This printer includes an image shuffle capability that lets you make collages of your photos.

Unfortunately, you are a bit limited in the sizes of photos you can print. This printer can handle credit card sized photos that are 2.13 x 3.39 inches or post card sized prints that are 3.94 x 5.83 inches. Its paper tray holds 18 sheets of photo paper.

When it comes to photo editing, this device does the work of simple corrections for you. Canon offers its “Portrait Image Optimize” feature that corrects the darkness created by photos that are heavily backlit, and it brightens faces. The printer also automatically fixes any red-eye effect.

Canon offers a good deal of help and support if you run into any problems with this printer. If you have a question, there is a FAQs section on the company website. You also get email and phone support, so you can ask company representatives any questions you have. You get a one-year warranty with this printer.

You also can look for answers to any questions in the printer’s user manual. Canon also features a highly helpful online resource and learning center that includes a variety of articles that help you understand such things as print speeds, and other tutorials fill you in on ways to get the maximum benefit from your photo printer.

The help and support is good, but not perfect. Unfortunately, there are no user discussion forums or blogs, resources that can often provide helpful information. Canon also does not provide live chat, which is a wonderfully helpful tool if you want answers fast.

This is the photo printer for you if you want photo prints with first-rate quality and a durable finish. However, with the Canon Selphy CP800, you get only two sizes of prints. Despite that limitation, this printer’s portability, built-in editing features and helpful customer support make it a worthwhile choice.
