Pictures Slideshow Maker by Pictures-Software, Inc. is similar to our #5-ranked software, DVD SlideShow Builder, but offers a much less user-friendly format. This, coupled with a lack of help support options, kept this program from ranking any higher.

Pictures Slideshow Maker can be a difficult program to work with. Although this software gives you the option of using either standard or wizard mode, it still makes for a difficult program to navigate and make use of.

Besides a phenomenal number of slide transitions, Pictures Slideshow Maker offers features like zoom-in and zoom-out, slideshow preview, drag-and-drop picture placement and the ability to record your voice for use in the slideshow.

Unfortunately, this software lacks the ability to add text, captions and video clips, can’t audio sync and doesn’t have the capacity to edit graphics.

Although Picture Slideshow Maker offers DVD and screensaver publication, it does not provide for publication using other methods like email, web, CD and iPod, limiting its output. Additional uploading and reformatting is also required for photos further limits potential input.

Pictures Slideshow Maker produces some fairly impressive slideshow results, which is due mostly to its picture quality and the 170 transition effects the program offers.

Although it boasts some excellent embellishments and effects, there is really little else offered by Picture Slideshow Maker. The top-rated Magix Xtreme Photostory on CD & DVD Deluxe is truly a better product in every way.
